Snow hatchling!

o.

I'm trying to get back on the horse... still kind of shaky, but determined... I think...

What horse are we talking about here?

By the way, Em, I'm supposed to pick up my snow from Dave tomorrow. I can't wait! Did you name your boy yet?

This is kind of embarrassing to admit, but I... guess you could say I lost my confidence in handling snakes. I got tagged a few times and it affected me badly.

But tonight was certainly a step toward gaining my confidence back! I held my boy, snapped a couple pictures (the lighting was awful) and I feel so much better! He's in his feeding tub now with a nummy pinkie!

And per request, here's some pics of his Viv. :) I haven't been able to find my better heating pad and nice coconut hides, but these do just fine. The pad keeps the hot side between 83-84 degrees Fahrenheit and the deli cup with the side cut out makes a good substitute until I can find the nice ones. :) And yes he stays in the bathroom. :p

These pictures of him have had the lighting tinkered with in Photoshop. They're not very good, but hopefully I can get some better ones of him later!

In Mama's hands! :D

As for a name... I've decided to call him Geryon. (Gery for short lol) :)

I'm glad you are getting your confidence back! Looks like he is doing well and I like the name! :D

:)

Well he didn't eat last night. :shrugs: Gonna wait 4-5 days more and try again.

Dave, how do you heat your pinkies? I nuke some water in the microwave, then put the mouse in it for about 5mins to get it hot. Maybe he doesn't like the way I prep it. :shrugs:

I just thaw them out by leaving them in the snake room. He is probably gonna shed soon and just isn't in the mood. The rest of the clutch is blue right now, it wouldn't be obvious on him.

When I do occasionally heat them, I just get the bathroom tap as hot as it will go, fill a cup and dump a few pinkies in.

By the way, your amel girl ate her first pinkie yesterday, and the reluctant opal ate one too. :grin01: The ultramel hasn't eaten yet, but no biggie only 2 out of the whole clutch have eaten so far, it has only been a week since their first shed.

Your girl is ready to go home Caryl. Looking forward to meeting you today. I'll have to double check my notes but she might have already shed her second time. It's either yours or Joey's that shed... the mind is the first thing to go. :grin01: If I didn't keep notes I'd be in trouble.

All right, I let mine pinks sit out for about half an hour, then warm them in water. I was actually thinking he might be in blue, he seemed a little dull to me, but I thought it was just the poor lighting. :) I'll be watching for it. :)

I'm so glad my two girls ate, not worried about the Ultramel boy, I'm sure he will soon enough. :)

Also, I don't handle them before feeding at all, I think the minor stress this causes can throw them off. Open viv, put snake in container with pinkie, put container in viv, close viv, check in an hour. That's how I do it.

Don't worry he will eat for you. I'd wait till after he sheds at this point. :D

I was thinking that as well. Next time, no playing around with him, into feeding tub for noms and once finished back into tub for digesting. I certainly don't bother them for at least two days after they've eaten. Three if it was a big meal. :)

I'm gonna try to start taking him out for 10-20 minutes everyday (minus feeding/digesting days). With some TLC I think he'd be a real nice snake and it'd be good for me as well.

Sounds like a plan. :D

I'm glad you are getting "back on the horse", Em. Looks like you have a sweet little boy to help you out with that :) And what is this, already planning on a few more? ~LOL~

Cornsnakes are like Lay's potato chips . . . .

Well, she has three more on deposit with me already so, yeah I think she is thinking about getting more. :D

OH, you fell for the "ugly babies" line. Shame on you, Dave! Taking advantage of Em by playing on her sympathies. Obviously, you have been hanging around with Brent too much ~LOL~

I have NEVER claimed to not be an addict. :grin01: I am planning on spending a lot on snakes this year. Just don't blame ME for feeding your addiction. LOL

By the way, I think I'll have those picky eaters in the clutch chowing down soon, so you can get your fix quicker. :D

Got me an anole to rub on their pinkie if they don't eat soon. Don't worry, I'll make sure they will eat unscented ones before sending them out.
