So the Snake Shop made the news this week..

Holy!!! That was a BIG snake!! Too bad on the bad press, I think the staff did a great job at controlling the situation and managing that sucker. She was royally PO'd!! (the snake that is)

Wow, it's a good thing that customer decided to whip out his camera and sell this minor, unimportant incident to the Sun./sarcasm
What, was he thinking the snake would kill this guy and he'd have it on video? What an ass.

Now that was funny. When I was younger I owned a 8 to 10 foot Burmese Python that thought I was dinner all the time. The python got me once on the hand and wrap its body up my arm and I was scared for about 30 seconds. Then I remembered to just tap it on the nose with a pencil or pen and it was suppose to let go but the snake had better plans. After that, I tried cold water on the face and that did the trick and the python let go.

The cold water on the faces works on California Kings also. Me and Ozzy(Cal. King) do that dance all the time. Ozzy's feeding drive is out of this world.

Love the Fatman

That stinks, RS. I hope the story goes away quickly, everything was done properly and relatively fast and the situation was taken care of.

I think Robbie and I have Cal's that would beg to differ!

I would have to add mine to the list of cali kings that dont care about cold water when it comes to eating my finger!!! :flames: When it comes to feeding time if my cali (Heartless) lives up to her name and gets a hold of me:uzi: only a small wiff of alcohol gets her off me. I never put it on her directly just dab of it close enough for her to smell it.....annnnnnnnnnnnddd release!! lol

Yup - always go for the sensationalism!

Over the years, I have been bitten a couple of times by 12 - 13' Burms (and many times by somewhat smaller boas and pythons) - my fault because I got in the way when feeding them. And I have had a quick bite from a medium sized dog - for no apparent reason. The dog bite was worse than any of the python bites. But that wouldn't make much of a story, unless I could say I was "mauled" by the dog - that would make it much more exciting!

Yes, Cal kings are the worst!

Back when I used to breed them, I had to open their boxes from below - and stand out of the way! They would leap halfway out of the box with mouths open, waving around like the sand worms from Dune! Quite a sight! And if I didn't avoid them, getting one off of a finger sometimes required a credit card - or even 2 - to slide in between each jaw and my finger! I never had another species that was quite like them. And mine were very tame - just always hungry!

I have to agree wit u Kathy, plus over the 7yrs that i have as a vet tech ive been bitten badly by at least 5 dogs and 2 many cats to count and i have to say their bite is way worst than any snake bite ive gotten.
