I was recently given this little guy. Genetics are unknown. So is he just a really coppery normal or something else?

I'm not an expert, but it looks similar to a caramel, on Ian's Viv, it looks like the motley pictured. I'm pretty sure yours isn't a motley though.

Im not really familiar with kastanie. What should I be looking for? If I breed him down the road, what do they cross well with?

Thanks, but thats not really what I really am looking for. I understand the genetics part, but Im more interested in what some crosses look like. Also (forgive me, I swear some of my classes are wiping out all of my brain cells) but I dont see a lot of difference between those pictures and a normal.

lol, nvm. Click the results = see the pics. I told you my brain cells were dying... Though Im still not seeing a huge difference between those and normal. What am I missing?

No worries :) I don't know much about them, so I could not tell you, other than I've heard they change drastically from hatchlings to adults. They're pretty snakes.
I recognize the name...you're on the herp soc. :)

I vote caramel, or hybrid or other ratsnake. Not normal cornsnake. I doubt someone with Kastanies is giving them away.

I agree with you Nanci, if anything it may be Caramel but I doubt it. I still feel its a nice normal.

But for it to be hybrid? well.. I am not sure. I don't see any other rat markers and its showing a lot of yellow.

My first instinct was "caramel?" then rootbeer. My bet is either hybrid or katstanie, but the latter is more unlikely I would think.
