I finally had a chance to breed my very yellow ultramel male to an amel motley het caramel female. I won him in a photo competition years ago. He was poss het motely, hypo and caramel. Well he is definitely not het motley or caramel. But he produced really orange/brown ultramels this time around. Even the amels seem more brown than I am used to.
Thanks guys. I like that third motley as well. She is even prettier in person! I love the aneries and I wished they stayed that black. The father of that clutch has nice borders and a hint or pink in him and is one of my favorite snakes.
They are all terrific hatchlings! I think I like the second pewter and the ultramel the best, but it's just by a fraction! Is there some banded heritage in those motleys? If not, you're so close to having banded motleys that just choosing the best and pairing them, you'll have some real stunners!
Susan thanks. The grandmother was a banded amel mot. I have since sold her but her granddaughter is one of my 2009 keepers because the orange in between her saddles is so different in real life. Here are two photos one from last year and one from this year. The difference in color is related to the photo and the lighting. She has not changed!
