Some of my 2010 keepers

Well it's about time I posted some photos! I am not a photographer but I am married to one! This year though I enlisted my 11 year old daughter to help me to see if she developed an interest in photography since she is quite artistic. Well the results are not the same as when a professional does it but I think for her first time she did a fine job!

First up are my holdbacks from breeding a strawberry male het amel motley to my favorite ghost het amel motley - Cohoe.

I love the way the hypo/strawberry amel girl is coloring up. Her colors are much more interesting in person. The female hypo/strawberry anery and the hypo/strawberry anery motley male look very similar to ghosts I have produced in the past.

I think my favorite pairing from last year were two aneries that turned out to be het diffused lavender. The clutch was tough since I had a lot of non feeders but I did get an anery lavender diffused which made me very happy! I kept him back as well as male anery lavender that I think has masque as well. I love them both but will most likely part with the anery lavender. I kept back a female as well but her brothers put her to shame!

I bred the same pair this year but the clutch was very disappointing and most went bad. I did get another anery lavender diffused male as well as a granite or an anery with a wicked wide white stripe down his belly but neither are eating for me...

My attempts to breed a sunkissed amel mot have not been successful to date. I did keep back an amel sunkissed female and a sunkissed motley male from last year. The amel sunkissed morph is just not doing it for me but I think she is getting prettier now. I love my sunkissed motley boy but his pattern is not my ideal so I may just keep the sunkissed motley male I produced this year.

WOW, I tihnk one of my favorites might just be the "plain 'ol Anery Lavender male. I'm assuming he's the snake in the middle picture of the second post? He's absolutly gorgeous! I love his complete lack of yellow, and the beautiful "frosting" (is it okay to call it that if TS or Ultra isn't involved?) if his saddles. He has a very put together beautiful look.

I wish that my place wasn't already such a bachelor pad, or I'd try to make room for either him or his brother. The Anery Lavender Diffused is absolutely gorgeous! I love his subtle purple color. He definitely convinces me that I should hold onto my pair of Bloods het for Anery, Lavender, and Hypo no matter how little space I have left!

I think your Sunkissed Mot boy is beautiful. His sides are so clean! He really looks Motley. I understand about the head pattern though. I chose my boy distinctly because he has the coolest head pattern of my options. I looked at adults, and of what I could find it looked as though over time dorsal patterns somewhat faded, while head patterns, or at least the outline of head patterns remained.

I'm not certified to ship yet, but I'm sure by the time my SK male is of proper breeding age I will be. He's a vivacious eater and a great grower, so I'm hoping he'll be ready sooner rather than later. He's only a 2010 though. Perhaps we could work out some kind of breeding loan though. I have a few females that I have lined up for him (some of them from you!!), but if you wanted to take him a year early "just in case" we might be able to arrange something. I think by the time he's 2 he'll be rip rearing and ready to go. Here's a link to a picture of him so you can see what kind of head pattern he may pass onto his babies...

I don't want to post the full picture so that I'm not hijacking your thread. The only possible down sides is that he's one of those SK Mots who has a few belly checkers, and I don't think his SK line has been tested for gazer yet.

Anyway, thanks for posting your hold backs from last season! It's fun seeing them now. When will you have babies that I can oogle over (and have to repeatedly talk myself out of buying) this year?!

*Edit: Ack, I just followed your signature link to your webpage and the process of fawning over, debating, checking my bank account, and making bargains with myself has now begun! ;) Looks like you have some pretty sweet stuff! It's very interesting to me that you got a few Motleys with necks that look like Stripes, because I got a Motley like that as well. Before this season I really had only seen this very very rarely. I wonder if it's becoming more common now?

That sunkissed motley and the two het pewter sunkissed are sweeet...the others aren't too bad either ;)...Grats, great keepers Joanna :*)

Thaks guys!

Jessica, I actually love the sunkissed motley's head pattern, it's the rest of him that is not my idea of what a sunkissed motley should look like. The sunkissed motley male I produced this year looks more like what I was expecting but his head pattern is so so. I'm torn as to what to do since I am male heavy and really need to cut my numbers back. Thanks for the offer of your boy. He is looking great! What I really want is a sunkissed anery or sunkissed het anery and if motley was in the mix I'd be happy! I'm also dying for a honey or honey mot. But I need to make room first. If you decide you want the anery lavender boy and/or anything else, let me know. I bet we can work something out.

Here is this years sunkissed motley which is of course a male!
