Crazy Dave
I'm guilty too. Let's party!
As long as no one posts a Panda Burger, I have confidence that this thread can be repaired!
Actually, that isn't necessarily so. I've known LPN and RN (I'll leave out the joke of what those stand for since you would likely take it as an offense if I'm reading your tones in the other posts correctly) that couldn't do basic math with fractions. I've taught a lot of students that managed to pass the exam and practice as a nurse. Not all of them are people I'd trust to put an adhesive bandage on a SPLINTER much less choose a healthy "alternative" diet.
Now, you may be the best LPN in the world. Kudos if you are. I'm not attacking you or LPNs in any capacity - I'm just sick at the statement that because someone is a (insert job here) they could not make a job-related error. That's B.S. The argument that you can't make a dietary mistake BECAUSE you happen to be an LPN (especially a mistake about yourself where you may be biased) is not only potentiality invalid, but it is humorous. Also, saying you stopped growing in mass at 16 is not normal, even if it is not necessarily unhealthy. Of course, I know lots of people that weight less at 30 than they did at 16, but that is because they were overweight at 16 and are eating better in later years.
The reason cows have so many stomachs and produce so much waste is that cellulose is very hard to digest.
And to whoever said you have to supplement when being vegan is uneducated. The only pill I take is birth control and all of my levels (blood test yearly) is perfect![]()
KJ not to argue, but diseases like Rickets was once a real problem in young developing children of all colors in the US before vitamin d was added to milks, bread, and cereals and still is a major disease in Asia and Africa. The truth is people tend to get most of their calcium these days through dairy products which lack magnesium meaning the body is not absorbing appropriate amounts of the calcium they ingest. However, foods like leafy green vegetables and fruits tend to be high in both magnesium and calcium allowing the body to absorb what it is taking in.
My mom sent me an interesting article today on calcium of all things because both of my children are lactose intolerant and foods that contain calcium are important around here. Heres the link http://www.dfwnetmall.com/veg/milk.htm.
This article also discusses how too much animal protein depletes are bodies calcium stores where with plant proteins this does not happen. I still feel a diet can be just as balanced with or without meat, but compelling evidence shows a diet full of too much meat is still worse than say a diet full of too many veggies especially for women.
The comment was made that vegetarians (or was it vegans?) had a diet with MORE vitamins in it implying that this meant the diet was healthier. Sorry, I don't know who made it. It was a borderline "strawman argument," so I didn't even bother to look at the name of the poster since it wasn't anything beneficial to remember.
My post was to point out that it was ONLY healthier if non-vegetarians did not get enough. This isn't try. Having EXTRA doesn't mean it is healthier. Either diet - if healthy - does not require vitamin supplements. Using vitamins to say vegetarians are healthier is invalid, so your reply doesn't pertain to that portion of this thread.
I'm allowed to express an opinion, right? This has to be the least interesting controversial discussion ever. I need to consider besting it.

There are several people here as nice as me.

As for the YBH, look at her man, anyone can see she is perfect in every way. She has healthy all over her.
I've also been the same weight since I was 15 and am pretty sure I'm still healthy. Weight doesn't equal growth especially for a woman. In our teens we have more muscle which weighs more than fat and less fat. As we age we all tend to loose muscle mass hence saggy parts, and gain fat which weighs less. So not to gain weight is not abnormal at all and doesn't in anyway indicate whether we have grown or not![]()
