Spent the weekend in the hospital...

I feel for ya! I had that pain when I was 17, it was intense. Welcome to the unappended club!

And here, from the first 1/2 of the description, I was expecting "kidney stone" as the culprit. Glad yer back, take the rest you need.

Rich, you'll spring back in no time..

I had the appendectomy about 10 yrs ago.. Man did that really suck, have me a 6 inch scar across the gut.. Of course about 5 yrs ago, I had the dreaded gall blander surgury.. Went in on a Weds, came out by thursday lunch time and was spliting fire wood with a 8lb sledge and a wedge by Sat morning.. Sure wished they did the small cuts years ago..

You will be up in no time Ole' Boy.. We have confidence. Just take it easy and recover ..

Regards.. Tim of T and J

Get well soon! Don't push yourself to do too much too soon or that little hernia will come back and then some!

Enjoy the pain pills!

Wow Rich, sorry to hear about that but at least they got it sorted out for you very quickly.
But jeez next time don't let yourself get so bad off with the pain :p

I called the nurse into my room once to tell her I farted.

:laugh01: I had two c-sections and a hysterectomy; I can really relate to that comment!! That was enough abdominal surgery for me. And oh yeah, the doc was going to remove my appendix during final surgery but couldn't find it. Now, that's just weird.

Rich, best wishes for a very speedy recovery!

The surgeon did mention that the incisions would be minor as long as an "exploratory" wasn't necessary. I assumed that meant that the appendix isn't always right where they think it should be. Actually I thought the appendix was much lower, so I didn't even consider that it was appendicitis at all.

If it wasn't for the shakes I suffered, I probably would have just blown off the pain and figured it would go away on it's own eventually. Which, in this instance, would have probably been a real bad move.....

hope you get better soon

Hope you have a fast recovery, hope this season gets much better for you!

UGH!!! that's HORRIBLE! i had what i "thought" was appendix pain...turns out it was just ovarian cycts rupturing! not sure weather to be thankful or angry...

well i've delt with both of those issues(ovarian cycts) and i'm not sure which was easier,
best part is once the appendix is out it won't bother you again, i had the cysts 3 or 4 times, all before i was 16.

glad you got it taken care of rich, i've seen what happens when they find it too late, weeks of having your gut opened and cleaned out to remove the poison.

Now THAT doesn't sound like any fun at all!

I really don't know how close I was to the appendix reaching the bursting point, but certainly it sounds like something to be avoided. :eek1:

Hmm, on thinking about it, sure makes a hospital seem like a gruesome place. It's a place where sometimes you come out of there with less body parts than you went in with.......

glad to hear that you're doing better Rich! Must've been a pretty scary weekend. Hope your recovery goes well.

Yeah, like, where DO they put all those "spare parts" anyway? :shrugs: Eeewwww....!

Hope you get well soon!

Trust me i know exactly how you feel. About a year ago i had my appendix out. Not a pleasant experience, to say the least. But then only about 12 days ago i had to get my Gaul bladder out. That was even worse. and I to had a hernia in my belly button. It is truley amazing how small the incisions are.

HoPe you get well soon :) GOOD LUCK
