Starvin' Marvin (leo) progression

DragonsDenSerpents

Murphy's Guinea Pig
Wanted to start a progression thread for Starvin' Marvin, my rescue leopard. I was lucky last night and he ate two waxies straight off, but wouldn't touch any food tonight. Not surprised, as it's really his first day home. He's been hanging out in his humid hide as well, so he may be starting to shed. I've decided his morph is just "cute" as I can't find anything that fits.

"Lemme out!" Marvin in the feeding bin:

"Oi, what do YOU want?"

He finally decided he wanted to be a crested gecko instead:

I need to get a video of him - he squawks at every available opportunity. He hasn't tried to bite, he's just very vocal. He was fun to watch exploring all his hides and his dishes last night. Hopefully we can get him fattened up!

I agree with his morph being "cute", he really is lol. It will be fun watching him grow and get fat. I bet his colors will really change too.

What a cutie! I have two myself, I really don't handle them much though. I've been reading too much on leopards having crypto so often. I had a few several years ago, before I really knew what I was doing, that just dwindled down to nothing and died. The two I still have look and act very healthy. I'm just so worried about spreading it if they do have it. Ugh, looking at your cute little one makes me sad.

If you put mealworms or waxies in a feed dish in his tub he may well eat overnight. Neither will harm him if they escape and the sight and sound of them wriggling about can stimulate him to eat without being stressed in a tub. (In case you didn't know, waxworm moths can be eaten too, the flickering wings work a treat on our leo's hunting instincts)

He looks like a blizzard.. but I do not know my leo morphs. How cute is he. I love our leos. Jack will wiggle his tail right before he pounces his crickets. Makes me giggle.

Good on your for rescuing such a cutie!

Marvin has grown! A small leo breeder I spoke with said he's likely a Murphy patternless, and his pattern is indeed fading. Freshly shed and getting a healthy appetite. He doesn't seem to care too much for dubia, but he loves waxies, reptiworms, and mini superworms. Nice to see some fat building in his tail now; he's active and still feisty. :)

He's got such a fat little stomach now! We're easing him off the waxies as I don't want to overdo it with those. I've got to get him eating the dubia roaches somehow. :/

Marvin eats roaches now! And boy does he put away the food. Was an overcast day since I didn't get home until later than anticipated, but managed to get a few photos of the cranky guy:

Oh wow, he looks great. Also, as I read back through this thread, I realized I meant to say in my last post, 'his tail ISN'T a stick anymore'. He's so cute.
