Strange insects

Hi all,

This morning to my surprise when cleaning my snake's feces out of the terrarium, under the bright light, I found that there are many insects on the feces, they are wingless small (1 mm), very thin, shiny :nope:
I have never seen those kind of insects anywhere before, what are they? How can I get rid of them? Are they harmful for my snake?

Please help

They are most likley to be fruit flies. They like to huddle around decomposing things!

Either way, it seems like your corn is in need of a fecal examination to rule out the possibility of internal parasites. If that poop is fresh, tub it and refrigerate it for up to 24 hours before taking it straight in to be tested.

I've seen those. For me, getting the poop out of there gets rid of the flies. I only get them in the two big square plastic cages in the kitchen, nowhere else, with the two biggest snakes with the biggest poops.

Well I am sure they are not from the feces themselves, they just fly to get insde the terrarium and stay on the feces, I examined the terrarium closely and they were not anywhere except on the feces, I also gave my snake an all over look and his skin is clean, no sign of any insects or parasites :shrugs:

And to the best of my knowldge they look exactly like flea, except they are silver color not black, but same body shape, slower in moving, since in fact you cannot have a close look on a flea :laugh01:
