Suprise hatchlings - snow/ghost emoryi/corns

I paired my best classic creamsicle male - I think he is quite emoryi in his look - with a ghost het amel corn this year - partly to contribute to my cinnamon project and partly to establish whether he carried any of the common corn genes. A male that was supposed to be his brother proved het for hypo A in breedings this year, so I was hopeful I might get some cinnamons from this pairing too.

First two out - creamsicle and one that appears anery (fudgesicle has been proposed before)

Then one cinnamon head - so I know I have a good chance for some ghosts!!

And the assortment - snows and ghosts as well - lots of variety in the ghost coloration - will be interesting to see once they shed -

Really nice to see that most of these inherited the nice narrow saddles and even pattern of the male creamsicle. These guys are estimated 25% emoryi, will be breeding them into the 75% emoryi lines in future to try and retain that look. Love the look of the rootbeers in this clutch too - dark colors so far!

The names creamsicle, rootbeer and cinnamon (hypo emoryi/corn) are pretty well established, but the other varieties haven't been that common. I have seen snowsicle, fudgesicle, snowcreme, anerycreme, can't recall seeing any ghosts or other varieties named. My preference is to stick with anery emoryi/corn, snow emoryi/corn or ghost emoryi/corn at this point, but I would be interested in hearing other opinions.

Anyone else producing ghost, snow or other emoryi/corns? Any pics to share? I think quite a few from this clutch will be growing up here to see how they turn out,

thanks for looking,

mary v.

Congrats on the rainbow of babies that hatched out! They are adorable and I look forward to seeing pics of them once they shed.

I really like the -sicle and -creme names. They sound so yummy! And I'm sure you'll produce a buttercreme one day! Awesome clutch!

Thanks for the kind comments everyone - these little ones are looking great. Only one cinnamon in this clutch - got a dozen from a previous one - but they are lovely. I really like the head markings on this guy.

I am loving the ghosts on this clutch - some very pale ones and some darker - even some pale girls so I will be growing most of these up to see how they look at maturity.

Ruth (Hanney's corns) suggested Icicles for the snow emoryi corns - I am liking that name - may have to keep it. Ended up with 5 of them from this group. Now to come up with a name for the ghosts!!

thanks for looking,

That male is stunning and this is the first time I see anery and ghost emoryxcorn crossings, I cannot wait to see them grow up!

I think using Icicles may become confusing as the lava ghosts are being labeled as Ice Corns and there is no lava in with the emoryis. Just a thought. Snowcicle would be good. Of course, if and when lava does get into the creamsicle lines, they would be Ice Creams. Hahaha!!

Very good point on the potential confusion with Ice corns. I really like the Ice Cream suggestion though!!

As much fun as it is to come up with new possible names I think the safest bet is to stick with calling them by their corn morph in combination with emoryi/corn designation. With the increasing number of corn morphs out there now it just gets too confusing to add a whole layer of names for the emoryi crosses!

Will post more pics of these once they have shed and fed. Thanks for the comments,

I could not agree more about the confusion on names Mary.. I thought I seen someone, some wheres using the term like rootbeer ghosts or some of the other.. It referenced the cross though.. Cool names though..
