So I've had eggs incubating a while...five clutches total, four of which were corns. The only surviving king snake egg hatched out on Monday and is a chubby little banded at 12 grams right out of the egg, and also male! He hatched out at day 71.
Yesterday I came home from being at my bf's and over at the school most of the day and the previous night..to find that two of my four clutches had began pipping! One was at day 71, the other at day 66. Funny they went together...Anyways, as I was preparing for the hatchies..i realized that one of the eggs from the day 71 clutch was already empty! SO I dug through the substrate I was using and sure enough..I found a baby!
But it was one heck of a surprise, too!
The parents of the first clutch (day 71) are Charlie (bought by exar), an Ultramel Motley with a now proven het, and Streak - an Anery stripe het hypo/amel.
The hidden het that we didn't know about with Charlie is stripe. And, a possibility he may be het anery as well as some of the pips kinda lookit..but its so hard to tell..
Anyways, here are some photo's! Two hatchies are out of Streak's clutch so far. There were only six good eggs out of this clutch. Two more are pipping and the other two are dimpled.
The other clutch has no hatchies out yet but lots of pipping. I'll just post hatchies and the pipping mystery from Streak's clutch. The rest'll have to come later when I get home from work
Now, I may be wrong on identifying the morphs. I'm still new to the Ultramel Gene, and the stripes on the two hatchies make it more difficult for me to guess (Only my second year of breeding..haha..)
First up is what I believe to be a normal stripe.
First image was taken this morning after settling in the other hatchie. This one is female, and she is a lot darker than she was last night (probably because the room has terrible lighting at night).
