Temp question

Hi I have a question about the temp of my snakes water when I put it in his Viv its at room temp but the air temp in my house cools it so when I feel it the next day it is cold what do I do? Or is it ok to have the water cold? Also where do I put the probe to find out what the temp is in his Viv on top of the substrate or under? Because when I have it on top it tells me the temp is like 80 - 85 and if I put it under it's 90 I don't want to make it to hot or to cold so where do I put the probe?

Thank you for any help

Don't worry about what the temperature of the water is in your snake's water dish. It is fine at what it is at room temp.

The probe should be placed at the bottom of the substrate as corn snakes often burrow under their substrate.

Susan's got it! But make sure you don't put the water in cold, they won't be too happy :) I usually put warmish/room temp water in. My boa loves fresh warm water and will soak, never seen a corn do it, but that's not saying it's not possible.

I do the same thing as knox. My milk snake loves to soak in her water dish while watching TV with us (no joke :)). The water isn't going to get below the temp of whatever side you put it on. With your core temp being 98.6 on average it will feel cold to you just like your baby does when you first pick him up. :)
