Temps - Warm b/c of Fireplace

I was just running my fireplace and got warm so I turned it off, happened over to the snakes and noticed their thermometers were reading 91. So, of course this is only temporary and they will go back down. Will this cause a problem?

The thermostat is set for 85 but of course it can't regulate me making my room so warm.

It's only temporary, so it'll be fine. You can always just give them fresh, cool, water.

Hmm, well in that case I would have to not run the fireplace long. I can run it in smaller spells and keep an eye on their temps. I'm in an apartment so the snakes are in the dining room which is pretty much connected to the living room. Fireplace is probably 20' away. I'll have to run it less often so I don't overheat them.

I guess I'll be using my new soft furry blanket more :) It's like rabbit fur (fake of course!)
I don't want to make them too warm. I never realized it got that much warmer clear over where they are.

Wait it's 90 degrees and you still need a blanket?

hmm, got a good point there! I keep the house around 72 but I get cold so I have blankets then my fireplace til it gets hot.

Thermostat for fireplace would be nice.

I think Nanci keeps her house cold! It seems that I read that once. Colder than i'd like it. I keep my AC on during the summer at around 76. Used to be 78 but as I get old, I seem to get hotter easier, lol!

I keep my house cold for the brumators as well. They are at the north end of the house in the spot that gets the coldest. I have a space heater in the bedroom for the nights when it gets really cold, otherwise just wear a lot of layers and sleep with a ton of blankets. It saves on the electric bill anyway. Of course since I work outdoors I am used to getting a little cold and uncomfortable. When it's 30 degrees and you've been out in it all day 60 really feels warm in comparison. LOL
