The New Girl From Missouri

Kaylee

Future Corn Snake Owner
Hello everyone! Like I said in the title, I'm from Missouri, and I'll be buying my first corn snake soon (which will also be my first snake of ANY kind, not just my first corn)! :D Still trying to pick which morph I'm going to get, so far I'm a fan of the silverqueens, blackjacks, bloodreds, and the pied sided bloodreds, haven't make up my mind yet though. I'll probably be picking it up, whichever morph it is, in July at my local reptile show. Right now I have two Russian tortoises (male and female), two leopard geckos (mack snow and blazing blizzard) and one crested gecko (dalmatian tiger) however soon I will be trading my female Russian to a friend for a few more cresties, so I'll establish a signature for myself once my number of animals becomes more permanent :) Don't hesitate to say hi, I LOVE talking about animals and I'm kind of chatty lol

Also, these two smileys are awesome. I've never seen them before and I love them lmfao.

:madeuce: :bounce:

The Facebook page 'Children of the Cornsnakes' has a black and white morph listed on their page as a 'Blackjack'. I'm new to corns so I'm not exactly certain as to what it is, genetics wise....also, hello ChannyB! Always good to meet someone from Missouri lol, you aren't too far away either! I live in Jefferson City :3 Independence is only about two and a half hours away.

Blackjack is one of Donovan's line bred corns, they are aneries that keep their saddles dark, rather than get frosty.

Oh and welcome!! Are you sure you'll make it to July? lol I am sure that a lot of the nice breeders on here can help you out before that!

I'd have to go look, but I imagine that it's probably an Anery (or something similar) that is named "Blackjack"

Huh. Never heard of it. I see by the picure it's an Anery/Red Coat.
I've seen other Anery Corns where the saddles stay black (not produced by him), it does look nice.

Well, shipping animals of any kind, no matter how safely it is done, has always made me kind of nervous, and I also like being able to make sure that an animal has a friendly personality before I buy it. I've never owned a snake before so I really wanted to be certain that the snake that I bought would be friendly and easy to handle. In addition, it is not only for myself that I am looking. My best friend and I decided that we would be buying corn snakes together at the same time, myself a female and her a male. This way it'd be easier to handle problems and it'd be more fun to talk to someone who is doing exactly what we are doing :) I am open to buying before July if I find something that I like, but I really prefer to buy locally rather than shipping. My friend and I are also very adamant that we want the full 'raising it from a baby' experience (not like a tiny baby, just between maybe 3-6 months old or so).

Hey Kaylee, I am right along with you about wanting to see my baby first hand. I think I will ultimately get my first 2 online from one of the great breeders on this site. The ones I have spoken with or heard from really insure they ship well and most use special FedEx service. Good luck picking yours out and I look forward to hearing and swapping stories with a corn snake virgin such as myself.

You'll learn who you can trust as far as send you exactly what you want, if you cannot see the animal in person before buying it.

All snakes should be shipped FedEx. UPS & USPS do not allow snakes to be shipped.
