a brush with death
^^ Yaaaaay!!! Congratulations!! She is gorgeous!!!!
I have a new little lady being delivered to me tomorrow myself

I named her Leila which is Arabic for "dark as night"
Well, I got my new little lady and she is somehow still alive after what she went through. The place where I purchased her told me after they had shipped her out that they had placed a requirement on the package that I be there to sign for it. I had told them prior that I work during the days and that I have a terrific front porch that is completely sheltered from weather and shaded from the sun all day long and that I track the package and then come right home once I know its there. Usually my lunch break. But they must have forgotten. Same with me as I always tell shippers not to require a signature. I have never had a problem until now due to the signature requirement. None of this would have happened had this not of been the case.
So I leave a note that morning on my way out for work, asking them (FedEx) to please leave the box by my front door and I signed the note as well. So later at work I am checking the tracking on it and I see an exception on the status saying no one was there to sign for package. I race home and find a note from Fed Ex that I have to be there to sign for it. I call customer service and they told me I would not be allowed to pick up the package at the hub either and that they would try again the next day. Pretty pissed at this point.
So all night I am praying for my little lady to be ok. Since I cant take time off work on such short notice I am forced to go to work in the morning and I leave another note with my cell number now too. This time I am beeeeegging the driver to leave the package or the animal inside would die. I go to work and clock in at 7:30am, and then I sneak home to wait for the driver at 9am hoping he comes within the same time frame as the day prior. Of course this does not happen. So I wait an hour and am finally am forced to leave and go back to work as I cant risk my job over this. I work about 30 minutes from home. Wouldnt you know as soon as I am pulling up to my work my cell phone rings. The driver calls me and tells me he is required to have a signature in person. I then plead and plead with him to leave the package or let me come meet him somewhere on his route. Finally he tells me that he will leave the package if I will call the main Fed Ex number and give positive feedback so he can be on better terms there. I agree to do this for him and he leaves the package. Thank God right!!! Wrong.
I leave work about 2 hours later to go get her and bring her inside to her new cage. Especially after being stuck in the box an extra night. When I get home I find that the driver, rather than leaving her at my front door in the shade, took her to my side yard and placed the box on top of my trash cans!!!!! There is no shade over there!!! The box clearly says all over it -PERISHABLE- DO NOT PLACE IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT!!! I cant even believe it when I see this. He had to go completely out of his way to take the box over there and go through my side yard gate. I grab the box and race inside. I open it up and my poor girl is coiled upside down with her mouth completely open in a gasping position. I flip her over and there is no movement. She feels dead. I uncoil her and still no movement, her mouth wont close and and there is no reaction to anything from her. Then as I am going to put her down, I feel some tiny tiny form of muscle resistance from her body...I thought it was probably just the usual death jerks you feel when they have just passed. But still having hope, I go put her in the cage I had ready for her so I could get back to work and deal with it later. I grab a small liquid syringe and put some water in it. I put several drops into her gaping wide open mouth and I see a slight movement from her tongue area!!! Then the front part of her body twitches to the left a tiny bit!!! OMG!!! I gave her several more drops of water and then placed her in her cage in a comfy position just in case maybe there was still hope!! I had to get back to work so I closed up her tub since there was not really a ton more I could do. It was up to her now if she wanted to fight for her life, or just let go. I figured she would let go after the horror she endured. I left her by a shallow water dish just in case though. The last thing I did was pray to God to spare her little life as I held her head and kissed her.
About 3 hours later after work is done I head back home prepared for the worst. But I find something else!!!! I open the tub and find that she is fully revived and moving around in her tub slithering back and forth looking for a way to get out! She then looks up at me with what I swore was a little smile and then goes back to trying to escape like all happy healthy baby snakes do!! So dont nobody tell me God doesn't answer prayer!!! My girl who I thought was surely dead...is alive and squirming all over the place now :dancer:
It was like nothing had happened!! My little lady is a real life miracle!!! And because of that I decided to re-name her Nasya, which in Hebrew means just what she is...a miracle.
As soon as I can I will take some photos of my little miracle snake so that you can all see her
