The oober rare black headed chondro...

Tula_Montage

It's Jager time!
All you have to do to achieve this monstrosity is accidentally spray your chondro with F10 disinfectant instead of water.

Siren has had a black face for over a month now. She eats and poops fine and is her usual lazy self. There is no rotting or necrosis of the skin, it seems merely discoloured from where the F10 got stuck around her facial pits. She was showered off immediately after I noticed it was F10 and not water, and the black scales appeared 24 hours later. Lets hope a shed will do some good. It has faded slightly over the last 3 weeks.

Oh, thats no good! I'm glad she's doing well though. Luckily I keep all my disifectant stuff far away from my spray bottle. Hope it goes away! Even though it looks kinda cool.

Aww, poor little Siren, I hate to think how bad she would have looked if you'd not realised!

Apart from the sooty look, she's looking good Elle! :D

I think she looks rather cute like that and its almost a funny story since no adverse side effects have come about:)

She's still beautiful, Elle. I'm glad you realized the mix up immediately.

We have LOTS of bottles around here... so I have taken to labeling MY bottles for my snakes. Almost confused a bleach solution for water once...

Thats the best part, I had a big F10 DISINFECTANT label on the bottle... I just wasn't paying attention...

So good that you realized what you had done and that Siren is doing well.
She's beautiful and still looks great with the black scales. However, yep, let's hope a shed, or two, takes care of it.

It was one of those routine spraying moments, where I just picked up the bottle that is ALWAYS left next to her box, and it turns out to be the wrong one. I noticed as soon as the smell hit me and rushed her off to the shower. Gahhh bad luck around here latley :(

Thankfully F10 is or well is supposed to be perfectly safe for ALL animals, reptiles and even inverts at a suitable dilution.

The more you dwell on your bad luck the more you will have! Wells thats what I believe any way. Just be glad you didnt take to badly from being shoved under the shower. *hugs* hipe things get better for you soon

aww, poor siren has eyebrows and moustache.

she still looks beautiful though! hopefully a few sheds takes care of it.

I use chlorhexidine as it's safe even in their mouths. No worries about it hurting them if accidently sprayed. And it's blue so there's no mistaking it for water.

F10 is perfectly safe. We even use it here to nebulise snakes so why it's discoloured her scales I nor anyone else knows. It's very very strange...

Aww, she does have a bit of a grumpy look to her...but nothing can hide her true beauty. She's such a gorgeous girl. Maybe your mommy needs some glasses, Siren?
I be a shed will take that right off, but I'm glad you shared the photos with us. Silly girl! ;)
