Hey Trimmer! She's settled on the warm side like a good little foster snake! I'm going to go for the small feeds every 3-4 days for now, and not planning ahead more than that because she's so delicate at this stage. I'll update every step on here for you

awesome :) She's a ;ittle toughy so Im sure she'll get through. Though Im not silly I realise there could be problems so fingers crossed.
J9 is awesome, shes been nothing but helpful and gone well out of her way to help me out. Nice to know theres still people out there that can restore ur faith in everyday people :cheers:

At least her body is processing the food properly which is a really good think.

Janine, don't you wish they all pooped that small amount even when adult? That would be a dream... LOL
 
Am over the moon to see the poop! She was moving her back end oddly the first day, and I couldn't tell if it was a kink or from weakness. This is the 'you will eat, anorexic snake boot-camp'!

I believe you may be referring to my chipolata sausage snake? Lil is on a 7-8 day feeding schedule, I'm not sure it's working though, she is still looking fat! :grin01: :grin01: :grin01:

That is awesome news!! Im glad shes a lil heavier even after a poop :p
her colour seemed to dull as she got skinnier, so u may see her orange bits look a bit more vibrant soon :)
 
Skooge update;
We're up to 5 whole grams now, so I gave a small whole puree-ed pink today. (I promise this is the last poop picture, I'm just still excited her guts are working, and I am a gastro nurse after all!) Her profile is still narrow rather than rounded, and I'm still not sure if she has kinks, but so far, so good :)

It is amazing how quickly they put on weight when they eat, it really surprises me.

Hehe, soon Janine will put photos of Skooge saying "does my bum look big in this" LOL

Hey Trimmer82, it looks like your baby is well on the mend and that she could be home sooner than you might expect... not that I had any doubt seeing that she is in very good hands ;)
 
Thanks! Well so far it looks like she can process the pinks squirted down her throat :)
Round 2 will be persuading her to actually eat for herself!
The mice are producing well, but I don't think she could tackle a live red yet.
I'll do the same as I did with Lil, one step at a time; syringe, live, f/t

You could try f/t first... why let her get used to live if she could willingly take ft? Do you not still have issues with Lil eating f/t? Then again live may be the only way to get her eating on her own but if it were me I would try f/t and teasing first :)

Im soooo glad fostersnake is doing so well Janine. Oh and I have other great news for you btw - Im getting back 3 corns tomorrow night :) You may not have to take in ANY more foster snakes :cool:
 
Elle I'd guessed as much from your threads, I'm soooooooooooooooo happy for you, but the offer still stands if there are problems.
The reason this girl will be tried on a live red when she big enough is because she never ate voluntarily in her life, but I can easily freeze some teeny reds so I can (hopefully) convert her straight away. I
My main concern is getting her to a decent size, which sems to be going well so far. She had lost muscle mass so badly that she is too weak to move properly, so I can't tell if she has kinks too. Judging by the grip she has on my fingers on the third feeding she's stronger already, as she fills out to a rounder bodyshape I should have more idea of whether they really are kinks or just lack of muscle.

Oh god aye I forgot... Nevemind me LOL - we wouldnt be in this state if she wasn't a volantry feeder in the first place.. DUH! :rolleyes:

She looks much better already... if she contines to gain at least a gram with each feeding she will hopefully progress nicely. Shes a lovely wee snaklet :)
