The Story of Squiggles (1)

AWWW she is beyond cute, i wish i could take her! she would be sooooo spoiled. and i love the name squiggles is PERFECT! and i am so glad she is pulling through!

Looks like Iguanagirl has some competition for this little cutie. If they decide to not get her, I could use a little snake with lots of personality. ;)

What a happy story! It's so sad when they don't make it, but Squiggles has made up her mind to live a normal life--wonderful!!

One question, though... why is the title to the thread, "The story of Squiggles (1)"?
I've always been told not to number anything if there isn't at least 2 of them... ie bullets, lists, etc. So is there a "Story of Squiggles (2)"?

:) :D :)

I knew there would be way too many pictures for a single post so I named the posts 1 - 6. But the first one turned out to be the thread title and I couldn't change it. But it will work out better this way anyway because when whoever gets her wants to do an update, they can use the "Story of Squiggles 2" and not have to tack on to the end of the original post.

Speaking of whoever gets her, I have not yet made any decisions on that. I would like to keep Squiggles for just a little longer - maybe another shed or two - 'cause I really like her myself. But I cannot provide a permanent home since I am totally out of room for yearlings and adults in my snake room. Plus, it would be neat if she could be in a situation where people could enjoy her without her having to be handled--I suspect her spine could be easily broken as she grows. No climbing for this one! She will need a "handicapped accessible" viv.

You never know, her kinks might lessen as she grows. Jasmine started out with one, then about 20 more developed, then they all just sort of melted away till now you can barely see the original big one, and can only feel the smaller ones. She's still not right- you can see it in her movement. I'm actually taking a different tack with her, having her do a lot of exercises like cornsnake treadmill and swimming to try to strengthen the muscles that support her spine. But she doesn't have any big bends like Squiggles does. I also gave her calcium supplements for a few months. Who knows.

I just have to give you kudos for giving Squiggles the chance to live and be a happy little snake =) This little girl just broke my heart, I wish her all the best of luck.
If you don't find her a home, there is an open tank with my crew waiting for her.
All the best!
Ali

In fact I am sure I would like to be a candidate for squiggles home. Please let me know when you decide who her new mom/dad to be is

It is the same with my bloodred, his kinks are so bad he can not climb and I do not want to handle him to much because I don't want to accidently hurt him. He also seems very uncomfortable with being handled because he cannot balance/hold himself up on my hand or arm, but I am perfectly content with watching him and giving him a good home.

As far as a home for her, when she is ready to go I will still be willing to take her if you want. I hope she continues to do well while in your care, keep us updated on how she is doing.

Well it sounds like iguana girl is the lucky one who is going to get her, but I would love to give her a home otherwise. =)

i told and showed my Hubby about little Squiggles.. and he said he thinks he fell in love, (he said he is ok with snakes but he isnt thrilled about them) But i was amazed about how much he was talking about her. he got on my account several times to look at this thread and look at her pics and see how she is. i mean you would think he met a super model or something. lol, but he said he wanted to start building some ramps and what not so she could wiggle on up them since she cant climb. and i told him that i think Iguanagirl is getting her and he had these puppy dog eyes, it was sooo cute. i thought i would share that and make Squiggles feel better about herself! lol

Thats sooo sweet. You never know maybe you'll get her. Send Marsha a pm. :)

I'm really glad to see so many people willing to take in this little girl. It makes me sad to know most kinked snakes don't get the chance that she is getting (even though I do understand why) and for so many people to want to take in this special little girl makes me very happy because I think they deserve a chance if someone is willing to give them a loving home.

I agree 100%. Just because she isn't going to be breeder quality, doesn't mean little Squiggles won't be a gorgeous pet with lot's of personality. :)

Ya I think there might be a battle over this little one. I fell in love with her, and want to get her, but knowing that I may not, I have decided to switch directions and rescue kinked little ones like this if breeders are willing to give them a chance. More of these little ones deserve a second chance at life, even though they aren't "breeding material" =)

Poppycorn you and Squiggles have inspired me to go a whole different direction with my corn career =)
