These boys followed me home from Cleveland...

I've got someone on my FB that has raised VBB's... So I'll check with her and see if she's got some pics. Sound like a plan? Hope you don't mind, Hallie! :D

Very beautiful snakes! Great finds.. but the Beauty snake are definite Taiwanese. The VBBs never have any green or yellow even at a young age. You bought a very nice one at that. I love our TBS and are looking to get a male to breed to her sometime soon. But here is a comparison for ya!

Unlike some corn morphs.. beauties keep the same colors and patters as they become adults.

Nice looking TBS!

Good question. LOL. I still haven't gotten a completely straight answer on that, because it all varies by how much each individual sheds. If they're power fed, and shed a lot, they lose the green rather quickly. If they're underfed and don't shed a lot, they keep the green for quite a while. But I think it's usually gone after the first couple months.

Robbie, dear, you are so full of info...I love it!! :D

That sounds great! I'm really interested in this now...

The Beauty snakes are pretty too, but I love the Caulkers, they are my favorite since I have a pair they are great little boas. Congrats!

Thanks Katie! I don't think I knew that you had a pair of them!! Have you posted pics? I'd love to see them!!!

They are fantastic!! I think I remember seeing these pics now. I'm looking forward to an update!! I really love the stripe on the male's tail.

My friend responded MUCH faster than I thought she would. She's just great. Here's a quote from her response...
Baby VBBs CAN start out olive and blue up as they get older! It can vary a bit depending on parentage etc, like even as an adult my Neptune has more teal to him than Ma-tsu did who was very denim blue. So it's possible!

I don't want to say they look like Taiwans though. I think of Taiwans as much more yellow. However, you CAN tell for SURE by the pattern! Taiwans have heavy spots much further up the neck than Blues. Blues have are much more solid further down till it fades into the diamond pattern. Look at the necks on these two little ones in the pics. Color aside, the difference in pattern is pretty clear.

Hope this helps!

Here's a baby taiwan - Note the neck! Taiwan_Beauty_Baby
Very different patterns. :)
She also included a pic of the Blue Beauty, but it was attached and I couldn't copy it over...

Soooooo, given what she said AND the obvious differences in the pics Hallie and Trent provided, I'd have to say.... NICE VBB'S!!!! Can't wait to see how the color change comes about. :)

She's gonna see about registering here and will probably pop in. I hope I didn't mis-quote her or anything. LOL.

Thank you SOOOO much Fred!! Trent and I were actually just talking about the pattern difference about half an hour ago! I was just guessing, turns out I was right about it! You are wonderful, thanks again. :D

Looks like these guys will need their own progression thread!!!!!!

Thanks Oren!!! I always think of you when I'm thinking about getting a new boa...I can just 'hear' your daily boa reminder. :)

I'm just upset that you and Trent left the show with multiple babies and I left with one.. haha.. Oh well!

Beautiful Boas.. Some time I'll talk Keith into letting me get a boa. Or.. not.

 Neither of us were supposed to leave with anything...clearly that didn't work out like it was planned...

These boas don't get much bigger than corns, only about 4 feet...so if you can convince him to get one, get one of these guys! :) (BTW, it was great meeting you and Keith! And your other friends too...I'm terrible with names.)

I read that they can get quite long... 6-7ft. Is there a good web site about VBB's you can recommend?

The boas or the VBBs? I did just double check on the boas and Vin Russo says they top out at about 5 feet and stay very lean (as they tend to me more arboreal than other boa species). The VBBs can get upwards of 8 feet. I do not have a website to recommend, maybe Robbie can chime in here with one?

Such a pretty beauty snake! I don't know anything about them, and I hope it ends up as the snake you want. I can't get over how big his head is compared to the rest of him, totally cute baby snake bobble-headedness!

Beautiful snakes, especially the boa!

Thanks!!

Thank you! We pretty much came to the conclusion last night that they are, in fact VBBs and not TBSs. :) I'm really looking forward to watching the color progression.
