I've never been to Boulder (not that I remember, at least), it would be neat living in such mountainous scenery. I had an aunt who used to live in Aurora and been there twice when I was young, and have been down to the Colorado Springs area and Pike's Peak, and also up to the Estes Park area. I've always loved Colorado, used to want to live there when i was younger.

I love it here too, ZoologyGirl. I used to think the mountains were boring, but now that I'm older and wiser I appreciate them a lot more. I can always figure out which direction I'm facing, and there are dozens of places to hike and camp without too much of a drive. Another cool thing about the mountains is that on the 4th of July, you can hear the fireworks echoing off of them. I don't even know how to describe it, it's amazing though. If only we had an ocean, then I'd be set!

wade, your brother has good taste! My boyfriend is from Maine and he's always telling me how much better he likes it here. I think he especially appreciates the milder winters and the low humidity.

Hey...I could have posted this hideous pic of my hometown (New London, WI). I mean who does that to a beautiful waters edge. Luckily they are working on fixing it up, and have put some walkways and parks along the water, and tore down a few building to open it up. This part still needs work though...

Ok Janine - I dug up some more photos from around home. I still can't find that I have any of downtown Tampa itself though. And what I consider "around home" covers a large portion of the state of Florida since I like to travel so much. Florida is home.

Two from the Tampa Aquarium:

Sanibel Lighthouse. Sanibel Island is world renowned for its seashells. They also have a great nature preserve to drive through on the island. One of the places you can actually see American Alligators and American Crocodiles in the same place:

I took this for a "Backsides" Challenge on my old photography forum. It is a view of one of the cars going by on one of the Roller Coasters at Busch Gardens. I love Busch Gardens!

Yep, I believe that's a jew's ear fungus, or in the same family.

Requin, I spent a lot of time in the Boulder/Longmont area in Colorado. I lived just north of there, in Fort Collins, for 7 years. Those pictures bring back lots of memories!

Just had an afternoon visit from hungry fox. It was sitting in my big flower tub, but my youngest son fed it while I got the camera. It looked a bit moth-eaten (mange?) and limped a ittle when it left.

I currently live in Quarriers Village, Scotland. This magical little village with more history than you can image is a heavenly getaway surrounded by farms and country scenery, yet it is only 30 minutes by car to Scotland's biggest city, Glasgow.

It is like the twilight zone at times. Sometimes it rains in Quarriers when it is raining nowhere else. Sometimes we have sunshine when everywhere else is raining. It's got it's own freakish weather system. Quarriers was originally founded by William Quarrier in 1876 so all the buildings are stunning works of Edwardian architecture. You can read more about the history of Quarriers here.

Typical houses, no two are alike, and each is grander than the next. All of these houses were once homes for the orphans, and many are still used for residential or respite care purposes.

And here are some of my own pictures. I live in the upper village, so our house is modern in comparison. Although it too used to be a residential care home for children. It still has "period" features such as the heavy fire doors, exit signs above them, call buttons and buzzers in the walls etc.

No worries J9. I don't think many people know about Quarriers. Even people who live within a 30 mile radius. It's tucked away and really quite hidden. I adore the seclusion and peacefulness.

It's like living out in the sticks, but not really because of how close we are to a few major cities.
