Tinley park Chicago 2009 Pictures

Wow.Great pictures. I'm one who doesn't really care for balls also. But some of those were amazingly beautiful.
Thanks for sharing them with us.

You got to go to Tinley??? How did it compare to Daytona?

I didn't think I liked BPs so much, but now that they come in stripe...

Pam really wants a spider ball python. I really dont know why. I have never had a ball python, nor do I really have a desire to. I am trying to get her to change her mind and want a SI ground boa or Hogg Isle instead LOL. But if thats what she really wants.. I will not complain :D Its a snake!

Great slide show!!

That stripe ball python in picture 15 is Out. Of. This. WORLD! But...I could never justify spending 20,000 bucks on a snake!

Nanci, a megaload of BPs. Like every third dealers was loaded to the cliche with them. Being in the North, it makes some sense that there were not a lot of large growing reptiles being offered. They have to contend with cold/freezes. brown/black-outs on the power grid, etc.-

Sizewise, it was about 5X the size of one of those Orlando ReptiCon shows, or 1/2 the size of Daytona. Very little in the way of "junk animals". 98% high end goodies.

Regional personalities: The dealers were mostly (98%) nice, cordial, friendly, would answer 34215 questions, no pressure to make sales, I didn't hear anyone harking "poor mouth, I need to make a sale" while I was there, it was a somewhat different variety of dealers then Daytona. Also, spectators/buyers tend to get more dressed up for a shopping outing there. There were the usual exceptions of course, but overall, it was a great show.

The lighting in the convention centre was SUPERB! Best/ most well lit show I've seen thusfar. Not the usual pink or gray or blue or green wavelength elCheapo lighting as I've seen elsewhere; the animals and people all looked vibrant.

The kid petting the geckos- I told his mom I'd email her the pics if she liked, then I told her I'd give her my email addy and she could contact me if she'd like them. She stood there stark still & super uptight, speechless. I even tried American Sign Language to no avail. Guess she assumed I wanted to spam her and harvest her personal information. Maybe she'd had a bad experience before. I made the same offer to a few other people, but I guess folks there in the North don't have Delete buttons on their email programs. That was the only negative, but then it's presumptious of me to even say so, yet I am. Southerners dont give a flying monkey's rat about that. Geography, locality and temperature have affects on persons.

Terri had some awesome corns, I forgot to take any pictures after she put a solid gold nearly patternless adult golddust mot in my hands, with black picotee stripes on the belly scales, my knees went weak and I needed the smelling salts and fresh incontinencewear. It was a great show. dp

Great pics, Dave! Thanks for posting them! I really liked the pics of all the retics. :grin01:

Oh pshaw. There was a retic morph a while back going for over $100K.

The fact that it had a 100K$ Label doesn't mean it was actually sold, let alone on regular basis, for that sum :)

Hoggwash mate, you see snakes as a hobby I imagine?
Breeders see them as their business(and as a hobby)- wouldn't I invest in high-end quality animals if I could? I sure would.
All a matter of perspective.
Look at Bob Clark, Rich Ihle, Peter Kahl.... you make the investment, it proves to be worthwhile and well... you're pretty much made :)

What can I sell, I need that striped BP. Probably shouldn't have posted that pic. Now that so many others around here want it, it's probably gone up to $30,000. Whoa is me...
