tongue color

just wondering if anybody has noticed the same morphs having different tongue colors?

my anery het. amel female's tongue has a distinctly black/blue color, whilst my male anery poss. het blood has a very red tongue.

i'll try to get some photos when i get back home today!

I know I've seen different colored tongues, but really never paid attention as to what color went with what morph, or if it was just an individual characteristic not related to morph at all.

Definitely noticed it! Aneries seem to have black/blue, almost purple tongues. Amels have red with white at the tip. I think my snow does too. I can't remember the lavender for sure, but I think his was pinkish (I just got him yesterday, so he's stashed away for a bit). It makes sense that it would be genetic, as it would be like skin colour.

I never put much thought into it, but it does seem like corn snakes' tongues tend to match their over all color. I have noticed that butters have yellowish tongues, aneries have black & amels seem to have red / pink tongues.

Both parents of my anery clutch have the pinker tongues... but several of the babies have black! I think it's just typical variation in this case.
