Two new rat snakes... whatcha think?

I just pick this pair up two days ago. They are male (dark) and female (amel). I have no real history on them, I do not know about age, and the female may be gravid.
They have been kept together, so I am going to do the same for now to minimize stress, and then I will separate them. They are a bit freaked out, and think that I am food (they go on hight food response every time I get near/manipulate them - which is minimal right now due to trying to limit stress). The female has shown intent to try for a hand, and the male goes for it relentlessly (if I were slower or less experiences, I would be dunking a snake right now post photo shoot). I really REALLY like them, though! I love their "energy".
I am sure that they are regular run of the mill rat snakes, and I am under no hope that I have something fancy, rare, etc (so do not misread my intentions), I just want to know what it is that I have. Can anyone give me the scientific name/link to more info/etc for the "type/s" that I have?
I am still working on names...
They seem healthy. I am listening hard and watching carefully, though, with the male. He sneezed twice the first night. I have not seen or heard anything since, but I am on alert.

What do I think? I think those are not corn snakes, so they shouldn't be in the photo forum. ;) It's ok this time, but remember that only corns, the traditional corn subspecies (i.e., Great Plains Rat, Kisatchie), subspecies intergrades (e.g., creamsicles, rootbeers), and corn hybrids (e.g. jungle corns) are allowed in this sub-forum. Other snakes belong in the "General Chit-Chat" sub-forum. :)

I don't know much about non-corn rat snakes, but I'm guessing that you have a normal gray rat and an amelanistic black rat. :shrugs:

I'm confused- I thought all ratsnakes could go in the photo section. I guess only E. gutatta sp, not E. obsolettas. Ok, now I'm not confused.

is that a stiro-foam box with marker on it? :sidestep:

No marker. Non toxic paint. The foam is mounted to make a climb and to seclude the back of the cage as a hide of sorts.

From: Corn Snake Photos Only, Please

Corn Snake photos ONLY, please......

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've noticed a fair share or non-cornsnake photos being posted here and I'm going to have to start wielding the axe. Especially on those messages where people upload the image to this server, as the database for this forum is getting HUGE. And on top of that, I have to pay the bandwidth each time the image is viewed.

So, not meaning to get people upset or think I'm singling them out for any reason, but I will be going through the old messages and deleting ANY non-cornsnake photo that I find. And new ones will be deleted immediately upon discovery.

After all, this IS a cornsnake ONLY forum, and I want to keep it that way.

Thanks for your understanding.

It's kind of hard to properly identify either one of those snakes with those photos. I couldn't say if they are corns, intergrades or another species. :shrugs:

Hey! I did not mean to break a forum rule, sorry! I was not sure what I had... Someone could have piped up and said "gigantic corn/ball python cross, obviously!" and it would have been about as accurate as the info I was given when I bought the snakes! E. gutatta sp, E. obsolettas, something else...? I was hoping that people here would know, but I in no way meant to break a rule. Sorry!

Maybe if you could get a picture of each one showing as much of the back as possible, in natural lighting, and post those in General Chit Chat (which is where all non-corns go- and are welcomed!) someone would get a better idea of what they are.

It's not that big a deal. I'm sorry if I made it appear to be one. I used a winky and a smiley! ;) ;) :) :)
