Ultramel Charcoal/Ultramel Pewter

Susan

Go Ahead, Make My Day!
This clutch is in the process of hatching now and all I can say is that I"ll need to definitely wait for at least a shed or two before I can say exactly what is what!

VERY tentatively, I'm calling this one an ultramel charcoal (male, hatched very early on the 15th, photos taken about an hour ago).

I think I see checks on the belly of this one, but it sure isn't easy. I refuse to even look at their blizzard sibling's ventral until she has shed.

I am again VERY tentatively calling this male an ultramel pewter! He hatched early this morning and again, photos taken about an hour ago. He still has tiny bits of moss on him.

Here are two ventral photos. I've looked as closely at these as possible on the photo software and can't see a mark anywhere that might indicate a belly check. Maybe someone else can see something...or not.

Their ultramel charcoal father has obvious belly checks so I will eventually know the answer, but the wait will kill me!

Those all look so sweet, the eyes on the ultramel charcoal combo's are pretty wicked! Quasar's pretty cool :)

Susan,

AWESOME!!!! I'd say you got it... But then I've been wrong before!! ;). Was hypo involved at all???? Can't imagine why an ultramel charcoal would be so light in color. I hatched two ultramel charcoals last week myself, and those babies of yours are WAY lighter, less patterned than my babies! Congrats!!!

Rich, as far as I know, there is no hypo in either parent. These have hatched a bit earlier than expected, and the photos are pre-shed, so I do expect them to darken up a bit.

Chris, you're right about those wicked ruby eyes! I've not seen anything like them hatch out around here before!

Susan, my ultramel charcoals just hatched on Saturday, and I have the new lense for the camera. I'll get some fresh close ups to compare up here for you.
