Update on scout the black rat snake

Really... don't attempt to correct anyone. It doesn't help you at all. :grin01:

I have 4 rats snake books at the moment. I will order that one. Jynx read my sig you havent SEEn my collection i'm sure you would be impressed

Oh trust me, there is not a single thing that you could show me at this point that would warrant a reaction that even remotely resembles being impressed. You could have 100 snakes, and I wouldn't be impressed. Heralds Snakes are not difficult to maintain, though I'm sure you've found a way around that as well...

I'm glad that you own 4 Rat snake books. Now perhaps you should actually open them.

By the way, i found your post where people are supporting you feeding 3 mice every other day. I'd like to know how many years of experience with snakes that 17 year old with the boa has....and does said boa friend have any experience with colubrids?

monday: "she all of a sudden started eating and pooping and sheding again"
wednesday "Gonn feed her again tonite" ... thursday: "Yay scout ate 3 pinkies last night (wednesday)"
friday: "she just took another 3 pinkies"

aforementioned friend: "yeea boy that means she might be back on rats"

Actually I have read each one and thik you are very bitter. You are one of te only people i know who thinks like alot of politicians you think you are supirior and others talks is bull crap to you

Bitter? Well, I'm sure that could possibly be part of it. You seem like you own snakes for nothing more than bragging rights, and you treat them as if they are toys. In my opinion, you have very little respect for life if you think the way you treat them is ok.

Anyone have a problem with me being bitter about that? Anyone? Bueller... Bueller...

Hey, if anything I've said happens to get through to the poor boy, then I'll gladly wear the scarlet letter. In one thread, I made him remember about those books piled in the closet. I feel like I've at least accomplished something :)

Ya know why I own snakes???? Because I have a profound love for the animal! If I had them as bragging rights I would have a bunch of high end morphs. Jynx you are 26 and you think you are an expert makes me giggle

Kid... I really think you're pushing it. There are people on this forum who have been keeping herps since before you were even thought of. When they open up a thread you start and give you advice you GREATFULLY LISTEN TO THEM!

The people you're calling out and being a snot to know what they're talking about. You don't. Get over it!

Jynx... if posting common sense makes you bitter MORE POWER TO YOU!

Jynx you are 26 and you think you are an expert makes me giggle

This from a fifteen year old!! :roflmao:

Look at the sig... I'm a girl, thank you. I'm also a mother, a wife, a specialist Nurse, and I've been keeping reptiles longer than you have been alive child. My animals are kings in my house, so don't even attempt to pass any judgment on me. Expert I am not, but I can point out an elementary mistake easily when it is made... over and over again.

Just think before you speak... your actions are not acceptable, nor excusable under the guise of a "mistake" (or 3 or 6). Treat your animals right... you are the only person they have.

9 years with anything from Corns at 12in to Retics to 16ft I am no newbe so they can suck it and ask all they want I dont bull**** and I may be young but I have as much experience as most people in there 30s and the snakes I have owned are A normal corn, Normal Ball python, Dwarf yellow head retic, 100% het Albino boa, Burmese Python, Red Genetic Stripe Blood Pyrhon, Double Het for Sunglow Boa,
He sold many of those animals for profit and me and him hope to be going into business someday

David, I think you get such a hard time here is because, while you're proud of your collection, you get some of the most basic things wrong. For instance, in the video where the snake dropped, you mentioned IN that video that the snake was going in and out of brumation. It doesn't work that way. Then you mention how one of your snakes will do it just by throwing a towel over him and turning off his heat. That's not exactly how it's done either. There are steps that you go through, signs that present themselves even if your snake DOES go into self-brumation, it's not an off again on again thing. There's a somewhat standard operation procedure for it...not written in stone, but the basics are pretty much the same. So the feeding/non-feeding/overfeeding things that you attribute to "hibernation" really don't seem to mesh with the science behind actual brumation. When long term keepers try to point that out to you, you get really mad and start telling everyone how rude they are. That other forums back you, etc. Have you posted this exact post on TKR? I can't imagine some of those guys backing your feeding regime in this instance.

Aside from that, it seems like you're saying you won't do this again. Is that right? If he's just starting feeding after brumation, you'll want to slow down abit. If he lost half his body weight, it might be that his temps were not cool enough to slow down his metabolism properly. You want slow and steady weight, not gaining what he lost in a week's time. That's not good for any living creature. Take your time with him, he'll bulk up again in his time with proper feeding. Good luck.

I don't know what was wrong. i am happy she is eating again that is it. She will get 2 pinks a week she is 18inches long. Anyway TKR is the place where I trust every member there

Oh yeah... thats the kind of person I want to have anything to do with. Being in this industry for profit? Good lord... there is no hope left in the world. People like that give people like us a bad name.

But I'm sure the little blurb you posted of his wins him oodles of customers.

Despite everything that was said in this thread and all the others (and I meant every word of it) I am both happy and relieved (maybe even just a tad bit proud) that you actually got something out of it, and are amending your habits. I'm sure Scout will be happy too. After all, Scout is the important one here.

Hold up...I assuming this is an update on the one you dropped? I'm very sure you will correct me if I am wrong...

And now you are going to stuff it with as many mice as it can fit?
Wow man...I thought you maybe learned some lessons??
I think it was tricksterpup who suggested a certain book...there is also one that many PetSmarts carry called Cornsnakes & Other Ratsnakes...it's $8.99...I flipped through it and it seems to have some good stuff...almost bought it but realized the GREAT ADVICE on here is FREE...but you don't seem to want to follow the free kind...

yes she is. David sold them for money and he loves animals he has like a business kind thing goin. What upsets me is I said she would get two a week on the first page

Hmm...just checked, no where on the first page do you say "I will only feed her two a week".
But the one that I keep seeing, and have to keep going back to so I can make sure I read it right, is where you said you gave her 7 in a week!!
