viewing threads - widths always changing

kathylove

Pragmatic & Logical
Both on this forum and on faunaclassifieds, sometimes the threads are normal sized on my monitor (so I don't have to scroll back and forth to read it), but sometimes the very next one I click on will be very wide, so I have to go back and forth many times to read it. Why does it keep changing widths, and is there an easy way to fix it (is it just my computer settings?) Please keep in mind that I am not a computer person if you are able to explain this to me.

Thanks,
Kathy Love

What resolution do you have your monitor set at? Generally, if it is less than 1024 x 768, you may have hoizontal scrolling problems in some instances.

I suspect it is because some of the threads have photographs in them that make the thread as a total appear wider than others. The whole page being displayed tries to configure itself to be as wide as the widest post in it. So a photograph will typically make the thread wider than a thread without a photo (or a smaller sized photo) would normally be.

Next time you get one of those oversized threads, check to see if there is a photo in it that is wider than your screen will allow to display with all of it visible.

Thanks...

It was often with photos and also (on the BOI) stuff that was pasted from elsewhere. I changed the settings and also played around with the "view" at the top of the screen, and it seems to help.

Thanks Rich!!
