Vine cleaning question

What is the best way to clean a fake vine that has been hanging in the snake's viv? Just soak it in hot water or is there another more sterile way?

Thank you as always!

Since they get pooped on all the time, I'd remove the vine, wash it in warm soapy water (dish soap), rinse, then dunk in a 10% bleach/hot water bath, then rinse VERY well.

Those vines do get soiled periodically. What I find works well is a good rinsing in warm water to get the large debris off. I mist the vines with Nature's Miracle, let it sit for a few minutes and give it a final good rinse. I understand the enzyme properties work on any negative bacteria and it gives it a nice odor as well.

My vines rarely get pooped on (actually, I don't think they ever have, but I only have one corn snake)... nonetheless, I like to soak them in a sink full of HOT HOT tap water with a bit of white vinegar, then when the water starts to cool off (about 15+ mins later) I rinse again with HOT HOT tap water, and let air dry on a few pieces of paper towel.
If it is not humid out, I will put the vines back in the vive with just a little water still left on the leaves (mind you, they are not dripping with water, and have cooled off).

yupp!
I'm big into natural cleaning products so my vines get sprayed with a 50% water 50% white vinigar solution, I let them set for 20 min then their rinsed off in hot tap water.

I use the same solution for full tank cleanings with lemon juice added.
any wood hides get baked at 250 degrees
and the water dishes get rinsed and refilled each day with a once a week vinigar soak..

Sorry to intrude on this thread, but can you clean wooden décor without baking it?

Absolutely, just boil it in a pot of water and a capful of bleach for about 20 minutes. Let it dry fully in the sun before putting it into the viv.
