Ps Must Take Out Sand In Few Days After Corn Settles

Badly need Advice

If you have sand in there now, just go buy aspen and take the sand out and put the aspen in. It won't disturb the snake that much.

You only need the heat mat, and you need to put it on a thermostat so it doesn't get too hot. You measure the temp on the glass, under the aspen, under the warm hide.

You don't need the light at all. The pet shop is just trying to get you to buy more stuff.

yep, you can take your snake and sand out now. Just don't bother him too much.

You don't need that light at all, that's really weird advice. Snakes need to thermoregulate, keep the UTH on ALL the time and he can pick weather he want's to be warm or cool himself. If you can't get/find a thermostat, a regular thermometer (an indoor/out door one, it will have a probe you can place on the warm spot) and a table top lamp dimmer to adjust the heat pad with will be fine. It's what I do.

The inside looks fine, except for the sand of course.

The viv Is 60 x 40 45 centimeters and the heat mat under the right hand side is 142 X 272 mm what ever that is in centimeters.... so will i leave the lamp off?? it seems the heat mat is small like Im lost

Just to be clear, the tank is 60 x 45 x 40 cm (23.6 x 17.7 x 15.7 inches) and the UTH is 14.2 x 27.2 cm (5.6 x 10.7 inches).

Your UTH seems to be fine the size it is.

Return the heat lamp if you can and get your money back.

Should i move the Hide on the right hand side over the heat mat or move the heat mat near his hide?? or is the hide ok where it is?? hate the heat mat right over the the right of the viv

Place one hide over the heat mat and the other one on the opposite side of the viv.

Don't worry about moving the hides around. Your snake will always find it. :)

142 X 272 mm what ever that is in centimeters

I'm sorry, what?! Are we really the same age? Isn't Ireland metric like Canada? That just really threw me for loop. Anyway.

As long as the heat pad is large enough for the snake to curl up on, it's fine. But do you have any way of measuring how hot it is? That's REALLY important. The UTH isn't supposed to heat the whole viv, only provide some belly heat to aid digestion and keep them a little warmer when they want.

ya same age man.. should i move the hide over the heat mat?? and should i keep the heat lamp off for good ?? i tought the corn has to be warm alot of the time ??? no just to digest

should i move the hide over the heat mat??

Yes, one hide should be over the heat mat.

and should i keep the heat lamp off for good ??

Yes. Unless your room is extra cold (in the 60's or colder), the heat lamp is not needed and could actually get hot enough to be dangerous to your lil snake.

i tought the corn has to be warm alot of the time ??? no just to digest

Corn snakes need a choice of a warm area and a cool area. This way they can regulate their own body temp.
