Wee green monster!

It's Jager time!
This is Gee the Chinese water dragon. She was a rescue and belongs to a very good friend of mine who has a real passion for these dragons. Shes stupidly tame and such a gorgeous animal. If only these beasties didn't need 4x6x2 arboreal vivs. Appologies for posting a million lizard pictures in the last 2 days. They are fascinating creatures to photograph and they stay much stiller than snakes :)

Woooow she is so pretty! :]

Pssshh woman stop it with all this lizard nonsense and go take some photos of Sweetpea, the boas, and the tarantulas! LOL ;)

LOL I know I really should Brian. I am very much all or nothing... no legs or 8 is my policy so owning an animal with 4 legs is me selling out.. I don't think it's going to happen any time soon LOL

I'll admit I came in here expecting pictures of sweatpea!
But these are some great pictures to compinsate for it though :)

Thanks Jenn! I realised there may have been some disapointed Sweetpea lovers after I submited the thread with that title. Sorry!

Well you know what you have to do right? Photoshoot!

In the meanwhile I'll go back to admiring the lovely close up shot of the eye, just beautiful!

Shes in shed at the moment! She really is a BIG green monster now... her last shed was over 6ft. And shes got a scary curiousness about her these days.

Awwww. That makes me miss my Chinese water dragon. I had a rescue about 4 years ago. She was in bad shape when I got her. I designed a huuuuge arboreal viv for her. Despite my efforts, and the vet's efforts, my dear Cybil died after only a year of keeping her.

The previous owner had her in a 20 gallon tank with no substrate, nothing to control the humidity, no light, and was feeding her cheese puffs. *gasp*

Chinese water dragons are fascinating creatures....much nicer than iguanas.

I love the pics , Tula. They bring back memories. :)

Ha, I guess everyone else thought "oh boy, more vine snake", too.
Doesn't matter, though, I like these just fine. You really caught the texture of the scales.

Cheesy puffs? You cannot be serious?

People don't realise that although water dragons stay small they need HUGE amounts of space as they are frisky little lizards.

Thanks! I like the varied textures of lizards.

"Cheesy puffs? You cannot be serious?"

I'm serious. You could see all her ribs. It was soooo sad. I finally got her up to a good weight and looking good. Unfortunately, the year or so of abuse she endured before I obtained her caused an irreversible calcium deficiency problem. :(

Are you sure she actually ate cheesy puffs? I wouldn't have thought a dragon would have touched them. Thats absolutly disgusting. I bet she had MBD?

I have no clue if she actually ate them. The previous owner simply admitted that cheesy puffs were offered as food. MBD?

Metabolic bone disorder due to lack of UV and calcium. It's a serious issue in lizards these days when people don't set them up correctly.

Yes, that's exactly what the vet said was wrong with her. We (the vet and I) tried our hardest to pull her out of it, but it was too late. I'm just glad I made her as comfortable as possible in her last year of existence.
