Went for a walk

Mice! They taste so nice!
As it was a sunny day here yesterday, and due to roads being blocked for the tour de france I couldn't go pony riding, I went for a walk instead after my nightshift. I had fun taking pictures until my batteries died, then went home for a much-needed sleep

Beautiful pictures. :) You really captured all of the colors very well. What kind of camera were you using?

Thanks. The walk was just what I needed after working 4 12-hour nights straight in a row, but I did regret it when I got called in to work last night again! Just flaked out this morning and slept all day.
The camera is an olympus x-760. Here are some random vegetation pictures. I love the colours where the grasses are flowering. The mini reed-bed is full of warblers, but none showed themselves for a picture. The tall plants are wild fennel, with a great aniseed fragrence. The tide was out, so I found a wreck, but was too tired to climb down to it for better shots

Actually I live in a smallish town, and the majority of farmland and woods I played in as a child have now been built over. Luckily there are small pockets of nature reserves within (a determined) walking distance still, and more just a short drive away. Nothing spectacular around here, but the estuary is a good place to go bird watching for migrants. I've got a few days off now, so if it doesn't rain in the morning I'll go back and see if there's more wildlife around this time. I've been lucky enough to see marsh and hen harriers before, as well as greylag and barnacle geese, shelduck, cormorants, terns, gulls, and lots of waders. Too far away for a good shot, but I was watching this black-backed gull harrassing smaller laughing gulls and their young.

Woke up early this morning and took Ellie to the estuary. She got to swim as the tide was in, and chased squirrels and rabbits. I did see a cormorant diving and fishing, but really need a zoom lens and better camera to get decent shots of anything out in the water.

I love those photos! The last photo of the boat is absolutely beautiful. :)

I've been reading cheesy novels set in the English countryside, so those combined with your pretty pictures are making me ache for a vacation. :awcrap:

Spent the week in Birmingham, so had to have a long walk in the woods. Found plenty of deer tracks and a badger sett but weren't lucky enough to see any animals this time
