Well thanks go to Snake Dave for telling me to go take some more pictures. I had nothing else to do today, so after filling out a couple job applications, I decided why not... this weather won't last!
This time I headed out to Fern Ridge reservoir, a shallow lake in the summer and vast wetlands in the winter. Duck hunting season is over so I had the place pretty much to myself...

First up some of the ponds and waterways

Fantastic, well I'm glad that I get some credit, I wasn't expecting you to do it today though! :grin01:

Those are some great pictures, and lovely Garters! Oregon looks lovely! Right, I think this should be a regular occurence now Jen, we have to go out to new places a couple of times a month and get some local shots, that'll keep us in good shape, lol :) I'm going to add some fresh pictures to the thread, since I only used 10 out of 45, check 'em out when you get a chance. :)

All the best

David

I'm all for it! And hopefully some other members join in too. I wish I didn't have quite so much time on my hands, but hopefully that will change soon. I want to go back to the first place and get pics of the river, it is gorgeous there as well. I loved your countryside pics too, though like tom e. I can't look at English Ivy going up a tree without feeling this urge to free the trunk from the vines lol... I am glad you liked the pics!

Ha ha, I'm glad I don't feel that urge, otherwise a lot of my time would be spent in that forest :grin01:

Well, I'm going to ask my Dad if we can go to the Brecon Beacons on the weekend, and if I do, you'll be in for a treat :) Oh and awesome, I'm glad you're gonna join in, it should be fun!

lol it was actually a threesome but one of them saw me and skedaddled! Garters like to form these 'mating balls' they are swingin' snakes ha ha ;)

Seeing that does make me wonder. I think we are in te same climate zone or pretty close. My two males are pretty much climbing out their vivs to find the girls. Roaming the viv all hours and not eating, hmmm.

Dunno what the groundhog had to say, but it sure is starting to feel like early spring here. Won't be too soon for me, I've felt about half past dead for the past couple months, it is very nice to see the sun again lol

Lol my apologies... From this side of pond it can get confusing.. I saw 'over here' in your location and assumed... you know what that makes me! Hee haw!

Good to see the red sides are out already - be prepared for this weekend though, with the 60+F forecast, more and more will be joining the fray. Sad to see no newts though. I was seeing them up here in the north part of the valley a month ago when daytime highs were barely breaking the freezing point...

Isaac, the garters are practically guaranteed at this place when the temps are warm, but I have no idea where to go to find newts. I know we have them here, I've never seen one though. I have a feeling these wetlands might be a little too exposed for them, so maybe I'll have better luck in the woods or something.

Awesome pictures! There were some wetlands near my middle school that we went out to a few times for science class. They're completely destroyed now. Makes me so sad.

It was already raining a bit tonight, so nope, don't think this little bought of nice weather will last. This happens a few times before spring really sets in here. It'll be reallllly nice for a few days at a time, then back to rain rain rain.
