I am trying to get a new house for my 4 month old corn snake.I am here to as which do you think is better acrylic or glass?

What do you use to house your snake?

I don't know which is better. But I use 3 glass aquariums for my snakes. But that's not to say it's better then acrylic, It's just what I personally use.

For a display viv~ acrylic is lighter and easier if you need to move it. But it scratches easier than glass. For a snake acrylic is probably fine~ for anything with claws I would use glass.

I also use more descriptive poll/thread titles.
Glass is cheaper in the same size, at least what I've found.
Some of those acrylic vivs are nice-looking, but I'm cheap.

I'm trying out two of these...

Not sure if I will like them better than glass, which I have been very happy with.

Just to add to this.. First the poll itself is very hard to truly vote on.. I think either is adequate, it comes down to personal preference. So to ask which is better is kind of hard to say. Might have been better to ask which people prefer. JMO, either way I'm sure there are drawbacks to both. Hope your able to get what best suits you though.. GOOD LUCK!

What are you guys using for a heat source, Flexwatt? And how is it installed?
I'm planning on building my own soon.
Thanks

Under tank heaters for the cornsnakes. When I go to my custom wooden cages I'll be getting the UTH's that are for the inside of the cage. For the green tree pythons that require overhead heat I use a heat panel or heat emitter/lamp. Flexwatt for the hatchling rack.

Just going by what I've seen, acrylic does seem to scratch fairly easily and goes "cloudy" over a couple of years even if you're careful when cleaning it. Glass can stand up to a lot tougher treatment without showing damage.

The bottom line is that neither glass nor acrylic will be detrimental to your snake, it really is down to what you personally prefer. If you have your heart set on acrylic, then go for it! Let us know how it works out for you - maybe we can pick up some tips from you along the way.

The one plus to acrylic is that it doesn't break as easily. It can crack if flexed too much, but banging it accidently won't break out the bottom like glass does (can you tell I did this once?)

i have finally got it... i think glass is better its way cheaper than acrliyc i use an acrliyc for my fish and don't like it scarches to easily so i'm sticking to glass i just found and 40 gallon breeder for just $75.00 ( USA dollars) what a deal

I bought one glass tank with sliding doors when I first started keeping snakes. Within 2 weeks the base was cracked and the corns could escape from the gap between the sliding doors. I have had a severe hatred for them eversince.

I now use "really useful boxes" in a rack system and would never go back. The biggest sizes are even great display cages. They hold the humidity and temperatures perfectly, they are cheap, duralble, easy to clean and they come in an array of colours and sizes to suit most small to medium sized snakes :)
