What sort of scale?

tyflier

[Insert Witty Commentary]
I've noticed that everyone generally refers to the snake's weight rather than length as a term of measurement, and I was just wondering what sort of scales does everyone use, and where might I find one?

I've been looking at all the usual on-line suspects, but can't seem to find medium sized digital scales anywhere.

Any suggestions?

eBay. Search on "digital scale" and you will find many available, usually for less than $20, including shipping.

Thanks, guys. Except...now that I know what it is I'm looking for, I feel really foolish for posting this topic. I could probably find a suitable scale down the road at K-Mart instead of searching through all the pet shops and online shops looking for one. Probably cheaper, too.

Thanks for setting em straight, guys!

Husband's a butcher, so we know a little something about scales. (No, he doesn't have large thumbs. Heard that joke before, thanks) ;)

Generally, the more accurate you want the scale in increments below one ounce or 5 grams, the lower top capacity the scale is going to have. There are obviously exceptions. But in general, if you only need a breakdown of 1/10 of a gram or 1/10 of an ounce, you can go much higher in top capacity.

Restaurant supply stores often have very accurate barely used scales on discount--restaurants go out of business a heck of lot.

Stop before you Shop...

I went searching for a larger capacity scale.
Came upon this one: My-Weigh's 3001P- $29.99.
Also, I came across a Digital Scale Fraud site. :madeuce:

Big market. Big, big market. Big, Big online market. All those dieters? All those, ahem, drug dealers? All those hobbyists who breed birds, herps, or other small animals?

You wouldn't believe the number of scales salesmen I had to talk to when Dear Butcher was building his store. Oh ye gods. Then the ones which sold to the home market (no PLU's, no SKU's, no barcodes, etc.) started spamming us via email. Fortunately, there are only really three distributors for refrigerated display cases here. If I had needed to go through that rigmarole for every major piece of equipment I would have hurt someone.
