Whats my best odds for a plasma stripe?

Nitelion94

I am The Nitelion
Ok some of you may remember me asking this in chat but I was half asleep and cant remember lol. I have 2010 hypo het plasma I plan on getting her a boyfriend next year. What should I get to have the best chances of plasma stripe babies???????? o and is the 3 3s rule for males to or just females??

I don't think I'd start with a snake that wasn't homo bloodred, because eventually you aren't going to know which are stripe and which are bloodred stripe. If anything, get a lavblood male, or hypo lavblood male. Once you have lavbloods, you can work on getting stripe into the mix, but I wouldn't do it with anything other than a bloodred stripe.

well. With Hypo het diffused+lavander x Diffused+Lavander+Stripe:
Phenotype:
1 / 4 Lavender het Diffused, Stripe, Hypo
1 / 4 Diffused het Lavender, Stripe, Hypo
1 / 4 Normal het Lavender, Diffused, Stripe, Hypo
1 / 4 Plasma ( Diffused, Lavender ) het Stripe, Hypo

Genotype:
1 / 4 Lavender het Diffused, Hypo, Stripe
1 / 4 Diffused het Hypo, Lavender, Stripe
1 / 4 Normal het Diffused, Hypo, Lavender, Stripe
1 / 4 Diffused, Lavender het Hypo, Stripe

Say u did get a pair of plasma het hypo stripe grew them up and bred them together:
Phenotype:
9 / 16 Plasma ( Diffused, Lavender ) 66% poss het. Stripe, Hypo
3 / 16 Hypo Plasma ( Diffused, Hypo, Lavender ) 66% poss het. Stripe
3 / 16 Plasma, Stripe ( Diffused, Lavender, Stripe ) 66% poss het. Hypo
1 / 16 Hypo Plasma, Stripe ( Diffused, Hypo, Lavender, Stripe )

Genotype:
1 / 16 Diffused, Lavender
1 / 8 Diffused, Lavender het Hypo
1 / 8 Diffused, Lavender het Stripe
1 / 4 Diffused, Lavender het Hypo, Stripe
1 / 16 Diffused, Lavender, Stripe
1 / 8 Diffused, Lavender, Stripe het Hypo
1 / 16 Diffused, Hypo, Lavender
1 / 8 Diffused, Hypo, Lavender het Stripe
1 / 16 Diffused, Hypo, Lavender, Stripe

I hope this helps LOL, it can be a bit confusing for sure.

And now you know what Ruby's job is going to be. ;)

Nanci gives a pretty good plan. With your starting snake, it will be a 2 or 3 generation project (6-9 years most likely), depending on how kind Murphy is to you.

ok im stupid lol. im going to buy a book that tells me all of this. by not understanding it now I realize im not even close to ready to breed.

I don't know if you remember this but if you do then do you remember what we said we'de do to you...

the whole 3/3/3 rule is not meant to be taken literally...

You'd need a double homozygous mate, either bloodred stripe het lavender or lavender stripe het bloodred (just not seeing plasma stripes for sale so i wouldnt even consider it) just to get het stripe "whichevers"...and nothing is guaranteed...you could get a clutch of normal hets even if you were able to find what you want to produce to breed it to your male...6 year project...minimum...

Ok Nanci I reread your first post and i think I get it now. So breed my female to a lablood. then breed the babies to a bloodred stripe. but what do I do after that or does that give plasma stripes?

Once you have the lavblood babies, (probably best if you keep females) then breed those to a bloodred stripe. If you can find one het lavender, that's great, but good luck with that. Rich Hume would be your best bet.

You will get all bloodred babies het lavender stripe. THEN you breed those babies to each other, and get:

Male = Bloodred, het. Lavender, het. Stripe
Female = Bloodred, het. Lavender, het. Stripe

Offspring predicted as:

---------------------------------------------------
9/16 Bloodred (66% poss. het. Lavender, 66% poss. het. Stripe)
3/16 Bloodred, Lavender (66% poss. het. Stripe)
3/16 Bloodred, Stripe (66% poss. het. Lavender)
1/16 Bloodred, Lavender, Stripe

It's going to take several generations unless you can find a bloodred het lavender stripe, or even more rare, a lavblood het stripe.

Now that he's lost his job as the foundation sire of my lavablood stripe project...

He'll be helping get stripe into a few projects, but namely the hypo plasma stripe project. :)

And again, Nanci has a good plan there. Let's not forget that the snakes you're going to need for this project generally aren't going to be cheap either...bloodred stripes aren't too incredibly common.

You most likely will. You're a lot closer than I am, so unless Murphy really favors me when it comes to those 1/16ths in a clutch, you'll be there probably 3 years ahead of me.

I have thought a lot about it in the past few min lol and I doubt I will be breeding for a while. I want to wait till I get a good job and move out that way I can take care of the babies and all that good stuff

I wonder why you never see female bloodred stripes for sale?? Maybe I can make one next year...Which doesn't really get me anywhere. The only way to go is through the Bloodred Stripe Man!!

I have to hit the 1/16s before I can breed those together to get the 1/64. We're both going to be doing this forever... Oh well, I only need one for myself. I'm not trying to breed the h.p.s. to sell, so it doesn't matter how long it takes.

Edit: If you make some bloodred stripe girls, I'll take the ones you don't keep!
