so ive posted on here before, when i first got my snake about a month ago. its crazy how fast he is growing, finally got him a proper tank, and a heating pad, but it broke, so hes chilling in there with a heat rock with a sock on it so there is no way he can get burned. the box the rock came in said its made so it dosnet have hot spots and all that, so hes fine.

ANYWAYS, he is getting big, and im thinking of giving him two pinkis tomorrow, live also, because its cheaper and closer to my house lol.

he was born the 15 of august, so he around 2 1/2 months old, you think its too soon? or just go for it? i want him to grow fast and get into the teen stage, i hear thats the "i made it stage, he wont suddenly die, and all is good" lol.

well let me know. THANKS

Dont power feedhim if you have a scale weigh him and follow the munson plan it say at 16 grams the can go up to 2 pinks mine just graduated to it she was born or july 15and it at 17 grams I feed every 5 days and she has never refused even when she was in blue justrememberthe munson plan is a guideline its your snanke so yourchoice if you are not familar w the munson plan do a searh of this site and you will find it

Ps sorry for spelling im on my phone

welli fed him before i read this. he ate 2 of them FAST. he was still looking for more, that was thursday that i fed him, the lumps are gone now, i think he did fine with it.

Feeding to prey at the same time isn't considered power feeding. Now feeding twice a week is. If your snake took the 2 pinks & digested them already GREAT...be consistent with the 2 pinks until u see no bulge within 24 hrs. If the bulge is gone with in that time, then u can upgrade to the next size. Mine was eating 1 pink for 2 months, then 2 pinks until 4 months, then I moved up to a fuzzy. When he was was 8 months I did double fuzzies until 10 months. Then a hopper until he was 13 months, then 2 hoppers until he was 14 months. Now he's on adult mice. I fed my snake every 5 days when he was on pinkies, then I moved to the 7 day plan. The munson Plan is just a guideline...doesn't have to be followed exactly...

well he did fine, and he seems happy. I am going to keep feeding him 2 at a time. should it still be every 5 days?

If your still on pinkies I would contine every 5 days. I've heard ppl keep it every 5 days even when they upgraded to fuzzies & hoppers. Its all up to to u, as long as u keep it every 5-7 days u should be fine. My snake is 15 months old, I feed one adult mouse every 7 days. Ill keep it like that until he's 2 or if he seems to be getting tubby (which I doubt) then I'll gradually go every 7-10 days (if necessary). Post pics when u get a chance! :)

Thats him :) it was a whatever pic cuze i was scared he crap on me like he ALWAYS does after eating -__-

but yea thats him, any idea how fast they grow? like how big will he be in 6 months, hes only 2 months old

Very nice, he has beautiful saddles...can't wait to see him when he gets older :) I'm sure you'll take good care of him!

I think i would be more inclined to try a small fuzzy instead of 2 pinkies.

As regards to how often, i usually wait till the day after he poo's

He maybe able to handle a fuzzy...but...we don't want to find out by him possibly regurging? It can happen if u bump up to a larger prey then its use to. I think just to be on the safe side try to large pinkies & if they digest in 24 hours & he loses the bulge in his belly. Then yes bump up to a fuzzy.

My snake poops 4-5 days after he eats. So 2-3 days after digestion. I usually wait a couple days to feed so I have time to play with him. But then again I feed every Saturday, unless he's in shed. I can feed him, he'll take it if he's in blue. But I just wait. I was suppose to feed him yesterday, but I know today (sunday) he was gonna poop & shed. So tonight ill feed him!

I bought a scale from Walmart for 20 dollars, it's just a food scale bit works amazing... It goes to 5,000 grams as well with increments of one gram, just another option :)

A snake can randomly die at any age..
The best you can do is take care of your snake to the best of your ability. Make sure you are practicing perfect husbandry, and if you find that your ways might not meet the standard of what's best, change them.

That said, you snake looks pretty healthy and large. I think that around two months was when I started giving my recent additions double pinks. Don't linger on this step though. If your snake takes double pinks well for a few times, switch to one large fuzzie. This is more nutritious, and the bump in prey item will help your snake grow faster.

Are there any expos that come to your town? An expo is the perfect place to pick up a large quantity of frozen feeders. It's much cheaper to go this route in the long run, and will eventually be safer for your snake as well.
Pinkies can't harm a snake, but the larger your snake gets, the larger its prey items will be. The chance of injury to the snake largely goes up.

I have a hard time believing that live is cheaper for you anyhow..
Unless you buy your live pinkies for 25 cents or so, you're not choosing the cheapest option.

Also, note that multiple orders of mice can be combined with only one shipping cost.

Didn't your snake just have a regurge on the 10th? He shouldn't be eating 2 pinks for at least another month. At this rate, you're going to kill him. Listen to the advice that Nanci gave you before and follow the regurge protocol. One regurge is bad, two can easily be fatal for a young snake. Feeding such a large meal so soon after a regurge is just asking for another one.

Jessica is right, snakes can randomly drop dead at any age (heck, I just had an adult die last week for no apparent reason), but by not following the regurge protocol and being careful with your fragile baby, you're greatly increasing the risk that something is going to happen to him.
