Why I hurt today?

I don't have much of a horror story.

Wisdom teeth started showing up on xrays...we decided to chop them out right away since I have a small jaw and it would cram my teeth. Went in, got laughing gas, and then knocked out, felt like I was melting into the chair...then I woke up. I didn't have much pain afterwards either, and I was lucky and had very minimal swelling, no chipmunk cheeks for me.

Unfortunately I did get a bit of a dry socket, it wasn't as bad as it could have been, but for a while after I had intense pain. That kind of sucked.

Hmm, what is dry socket? Sounds interesting. (and painful)

My jaws go back far enough that I'm not going to need my teeth pulled, thank god...
 
I had 3 of my wisdom teeth pulled in boot camp. I was 31 at the time and against it, as they hadn't come out and weren't bothering me, but I had to get them done anyways. I didn't want to be knocked out, so they used Novocaine. They covered up my eyes, "to keep the saline from the rinse out", supposedly, but I figured it was so I wouldn't be horrified with their actions. Two of the teeth came out pretty easily, but he really had to chip and struggle with one. He asked if I wanted the 4th out while he was in there and I said NO, I wanted to get the hell out of that chair. The pain after wasn't too bad at first. We got 2 days of SIQ (sick in quarters) and I took advantage of that, sleeping a lot. I did get some infection and had to go back a few times and have the holes stuffed with this stuff that tasted like cloves. It numbed it up too. All in all, not a positive experience for me.

Another girl in my division had her teeth out too, I don't remember how many. Anyways, I noticed her one day spitting out a lot of blood, clumps of it. I told her to go back to the doctor and get that taken care of. She wanted to be tough though and said she wouldn't. So, a couple of days later we're at the gym running and she just flat out falls on her face while running. She got it taken care of after that.

I hope my stories make you feel a little bit better. :)
 
Might be I am little nuts, but I am missing 9 teeth.. All done with Novacane.. Nothing spectacular except one dry socket when the Dentist yanked an molar and wisdon tooth... Heck, I was splitting fire wood two days after having my gall bladder removed.. *shruks* Its the occasionaly sicatia pain that really irritates me, nothing like pins and needles to through the right leg down to the toes, while the leg feels like it is burning like a white fire..

i dont have any horror stories. i dont have any wisdom teeth. but from what i hear it sucks to have them pulled.
 
I was 19 when I had mine removed. They weren't going to come out on their own. They were impacted, and one of them was even sideways! I had to do it on Thanksgiving break during college, so I didn't have to miss any school. So I had a lovely Thanksgiving dinner of turkey dinner flavored baby food... yummy! ;) I didn't have any complications at all. Actually I don't remember being in bed or having much pain. They did put me out for the whole thing though. Since they had to go digging for them. I'm actually kind of like Tim. I'm missing 7 teeth. Four wisdom teeth, and 3 others that were removed to make room for the rest. I had them all taken out when I was a teenager with braces. They did use Novocaine for those extractions.
 
Man, I was 17 years old and had all 4 of mine removed. All 4 were boney impacted, Laying down with no hope of them ever coming in. The anesthesia started to wear off while they were working on one of them and I could feel and hear EVERYTHING. By the time the Oral surgeon was done I was already starting to swell up. By the next day I was completely swollen up to my eyes. They were 3/4 shut and I was black and blue from eyes down to jaw. It was NOT a very fun experience for me and was SO happy I had all of them done at once.
Am pretty sure I wouldn't have gone back otherwise...lol
