Lol, thanks! the picture of the woodpecker was with my zoom lens, but the hawk I really did sneak up underneath. It was surprisingly unafraid of me.

Where in Ohio are you? Cause that looks like a beautiful landscape! I'm outside of Akron, and the little snow that has fallen hasn't stuck.

Eh, I'm a freshman so I live on campus. Next year I'm going to be living off campus though. It's hard trying to hide a snake and a leopard gecko in my dorm, but at least I have a single room.

Haha you guys got it easy. If I go to the Naval Academy like I'm planning on now, I'll have to see if my parents would be willing to take care of my snake for me, or if not, I would have to loan her to someone.

Ah that sucks, that's one of the problems I faced, I guess you can't really sneak a snake in with you to the navy. At least corn snakes are pretty common and easy to care for in case you have to loan it to someone to care for it.

On a different note, does anyone have any idea what type of hawk that is?

I'm a senior but I don't graduate until a year from now. My freshman year I knew someone with a 55 gallon tank in his room for I believe his beardie or ball. I can't remember which he had. They didn't find it until halfway through his first year. As long as you don't gotta big mouth (or any friends like that either) you're pretty much golden. :grin01:

Wow that's a huge tank! I have a 20 gallon, and a ten gallon. I'm hoping my RA never has a reason to visit me.

I checked out the broad-winged hawk and it looks a lot like that!

Just be sure to take your pets home for winter break, they check all the rooms while you're gone! They are biotches like that. I should know, my sister is the Senior RA for Wright Hall.

Yeah I definitely am going to. My RA glanced my tank one time when she walked by, and asked me about it later and I told her it was a fish tank and she seemed perfectly happy with that. But I'm not taking any chances.

After more review of pictures and the habitat that I found it in, I really think that it is a Red-Shouldered Hawk instead. Thanks for the ID!

Not to bring this thread up from the dead.. Lol, I go to Kent as well. Thats sweet, we'll have to get together sometime.

Thanks for bumping it, Trent.
This looks like what I do on weekends, except your hawk pic is better than the ones I get! The sanctuary there looks much like parts of our local wildlife refuge.
Your little woodpecker is a male downy woodpecker.
