I went to my National Wildlife Refuge today. I thought maybe I would get some eagle pics, it's a bit late in the year for herps........NOT.
I found turtles:

A guy walking the other way said he saw a Northern Water Snake at a place I've seen them before so I believe him.

It sure doesn't seem like it's almost January.

Then I was looking down so much I missed this eagle that flew over me until it was halfway across the river. See it? It's that little thing dead center in the pic, I was way late.

Those are beautiful photos, Alan. Is that your house up on the hill?

*edit* NVM. I just saw the first sentence of your post.

Wonderful pictures! Is it me or do the frogs have a blue color to them?
Glad you got to see your eagle even if far away!

Ha, yeah, right. No that's the guest house

In real life they were green and gold. I actually saw three eagles, no pics. They were too far away.
Nice pics! It was so hot down here today I thought I'd have to turn on the AC!!
It's supposed to be 65° here Sunday, probably not going sledding.

This is the same place that the turtles were six days ago, today it's ice. Next week maybe I'll get more turtle pics.

Virginia's winter weather has been crazy like this for several years.

yes, the weather is funky here in good ole VA. but i wouldnt mind a lil snow for once. i mean- more than flurries. and no freezing rain... just a nice lil snow that the neighborhood kiddies can play in...as long as they stay out of my yard :)

Great pictures, I hope to see an eagle someday.
You've got eagles all over Jersey. Wharton State Park has eagles, try visiting the wildlife areas along the east coast also.

Yeah kin, the kids too, I've got a nice long runner sled that I have not used in a few years.

That's just crazy Alan... Oh yeah sweet Guest house.. :D

Yes that is crazy, I want some snow that stays.
You can stay at that house if you're in the area, keys under the mat. Don't mention it, really, don't.

I know everyone I know has seen them but me. I know there is a nest somewhere near where I work I'm hoping to find it this year. I saw 5 hawks today I was so excited they where so pretty, unfortunately I couldn't get a picture because I was driving. :(

Ice and sliders

Nope, not winter-fun sliders, I mean red-eared sliders.

February, dead of winter, some ice. We've had several below freezing days. My area has only had 1.5"- 2" of snow.

It was very warm today, the turtles are very confused. I'm not sure if I've seen ice and turtles at the same time before this. The red-eared slider in the middle of this pic was one of about a dozen I saw today.

They all had dirt on their backs, I guess they have been at the bottom for a while?
