New to the site and the first thimg that struck me was it seems that the same number if not more of the members are girls! i think its awesome!! no namby pamby EEEEEk a snake!!!! Bravo girls!! LOL i have had dates end with " you have snakes in your house??? bye...."

LOL and lots of single ones! But saddly....single lesbian here. But still! It does give ya hope that there is a snakeloving girl out there for all of us. WOOT!

That's what struck me when I first joined. I came on with all the typical newbie questions expecting to get some macho advice for "a mommy", and all these sweet women were the ones answering all my questions. It was unexpected, but I was struck then by just how friendly everyone is of both genders. I'm totally addicted to this place.

*edit* What's also funny is when my family members visit, it's always the MEN who make me cover the tanks because they're skeeered! ;)

Loads of herp friendly women out there! I had snakes before I got my husband. The right person is out there for everyone.

This place does have a lot of women, it's one of the things that made me feel most welcome here and why I am so addicted. But EVERYONE, male or female, is friendly here.

Yeah, I love all animals... but I used to be a cute a cuddle mammal lover ("typical" girl)! But that quickly changed when I got to hold and spend time with a corn snake. I fell in love with snakes :crazy01: and 3 months later went out and bought one!

Still love my cute and cuddle mammals though!:D

Welcome to the forums. Yep you'll find plenty of women here who don't fit into the typical "girly-girl" stereotype. My daughters and I have 4 snakes and will soon have a tarantula again. And who knows we'll be off to the reptile expo next month for more food and may very well end up with yet another snake...lol

Hope you enjoy your time here. Good luck to ya.

lol...its nice to communicate with other girls that enjoy this hobby :) I have owned my snakes for over a year now, and the other night is the first time I met another girl in my city who has snakes :)

My 17 yr old son has friends who think his mom is very...unusual:D...lol

wow i'm reading this, and half of this women posters i assumed were guys, and i know i have either talked to some of you ladies in the chat room or in a thread, and literally said. "Thanks dude" or "hey man". "Or you'll be a great dad for your snake". I apologize. I know that CS is not bias, but could we have an option to put our sex or gender under our age and above out posts? It would fit...

My 18 year old daughters freinds think both they and their mom are a bit unusual...lol
It's ok, it helps to keep the riffraff away from my daughters.. hehehhe

On the other hand, it's not like we're butch either. I can be quite girly. : 3

didn't someone say once corns were a "girly" snake? Compared to BCC's and stuff.

I know there was a poll (maybe several) that asked the gender of members, and I believe gals outnumbered the guys. You can probably search for it to read for yourself if you like.

I wouldn't worry too much about "mis-sexing" the members. If it matters a lot to them, they will probably either choose a gender specific screen name, or they will sign their posts.

Glad to welcome you on board!

That makes two of us!!

And I also think it's awesome how many ladies post on this site.

I was surprised, too. I am about as girly as it gets and when people hear I keep snakes they are completely shocked. I got into the hobby because of my son and initially was scared of them....but now I can't get enough. My husband is the jumpy one!

I love the fact there are so many females on this site... Around my family I feel like I'm unusual because I keep pets nobody else likes... Not to mention I think they are are so cute when they are little and absolutely beautiful when they get big... The majority of the family won't get within arms reach of me when I'm holding even the tiniest one in my collection... It's amazing how closed minded people are... Thankyou to all of you that make me feel normal, I really appreciate it... :)

I didn't notice how many women there were until you pointed it out. I've never been that "girly", I've always loved reptile, bugs and any other kind of critter. I only have one friend who is a girl the rest are guys(never got along with most girls, to girly lol).

I find that most guys I know are more scared of snakes then the girls I know. My boyfriend before we started dating was scared of snakes, so I chased him around with a 10ft Burmese Python, lol. That took care of that after she gave him a couple "hugs" he started to like snakes.

My boyfriend is actually pretty wary around my corn snake, and Samson is just a baby! I held my gal friend's year old corn snake and decided I needed one for myself. Couple months later I ordered Sammy. =D It's great to know that there are fellow gals out there that enjoy their corns as much as I enjoy mine!
