NICE snakes.. I need to take updated pictures of my morelia, so when I do.. you can expect Morelia, Liasis and Boa!
 
Everyone should have at least one Morelia.... Whether it's a GTP, for that cuddly snake experience, or a M.bredli/carpet for a more hands on thing.....
They are great animals and once you have had one (especially carpet) you won't go back.... Muhahahahaha
 
Beautiful. I'd like to know more about what's so wonderful about them and why you won't go back once you've had them.

They are wonderful display snakes(that don't hide away all day) that you can actually hold. They feed like champs. They come to life at night and cruise around their viv. They are stunning to look at, colours etc. They feel wonderful.... They are slim yet long so they don't take up much viv space and are impressive when out... Their strength/reach is phenomenal... They are not aggressive when adult.... They are tolerant of many conditions and are as easy as corns to look after... They make a great first/beginners snake..... Need I go on... LOL
I've had many species of snake and still have quite a few species, but Carpets/Morelia are taking over the most kept snake, by me......
You should look into them as an alternative... You won't be sorry......

Well put! I love my Jungle Carpet Pythons, and you pretty much summed up why I love them. Definitely great snakes!
If I was to get other Morelia, I would love to get an Irian Jaya some day. I would just have to find the right one. Green Tree Pythons are also a dream snake, but I feel that they are just too demanding and aggressive compared to Carpet Python's.

I have a pair of IJ's locked as we speak and they are the most timid of the Morelia IMO....
I also have a couple of GTP locked as well.... But they are a different type of snake ..... They are just for looking at and no touchy..... LOL
Though I have a friend with 6th generation cb GTP and they are handleable, no aggression what so ever.... So in time I feel the bad press that GTP have may go away with more Cb....
And they are not demanding.... Just watch the food size and keep up the humidity ..... Get The complete condro it will teach you everything there is to know about them....
 
My carpets are all breeding now. I will post some pics of my Morelia collection sometime in the next couple days. They truly are hard to beat, eventually my collection will be trimmed down to Morelia and other Australian pythons and corns. At least that's the plan for now.:bang:

Thanks! That was a very seductive ad campaign you just ran! I had been thinking that when I got my first larger snake (when I have a real job and more room than we have now) it'd be a Dumeril's boa, but maybe I'll have to reconsider! Would you care to opine?

That's like comparing Apples to Oranges... LOL
Dumeril's Boa is a stunningly beautiful animal,, especially if you get a real pretty one with the blushes in the rosettes..
They are larger than most carpet pythons as well, a lot more heavy in the body..... But the name is a give away, Dumeril's ground Boa, those rosettes are for it to hide away unseen.....
Carpets are semi arboreal, though they haven't learned about the semi bit yet... LOL They crash out all day on a branch/perch, like a GTP.
So they are on view most of the time, without stressing them out..
What ever animal you decide on is what ever suits you really....
One thing I will say is handle an adult Carpet before deciding. Some people don't like the fact that when a carpet gets worried/stressed it climbs, which means it heads towards your face..... Not to harm you but thats at the top when you are running away upwards....LOL
And if one escapes out of an unlocked viv, look up. They tend not to hide away, and rather find something high up to perch on....

I, too, was considering a Dum or other smallish boa as my first big snake. I want a snake I can handle, no pretty-in-the-viv-but-no-touchie for me. I don't want anything likely to get any bigger than say, 6-10 feet either. Would a carpet suit me?

This is all pretty far down the road as I am living in cramped conditions that don't permit me to provide proper housing to a larger snake right now, so corns are it until I move.

Maybe....
IJ's get 4 1/2 -5 1/2 feet... Jungles get 6-8 feet
Jungle jags 6-8 feet IJ jags get 5-7 feet
They are slender so look a lot smaller than a Dum of the same size when in a viv....
Both are great snakes, you need to decide what ticks all the boxes for your particular needs and go and look at some adult snakes to make a proper informed decision....
If it was me I would get a Carpet, but I would say that. wouldn't I....LOL
