Should I buy this, that or what?

I need advice in what vacuum sealer to buy to store mice. Please post any good or bad experiences with any brand that you have used or heard reviews.

thx.

If you want to go the inexpensive route, I have heard the ziploc vacuum sealer works well enough. I think Nanci uses it.

I honestly couldn't find the Ziploc vacuum sealer anywhere I looked. I went to several stores all over Dallas and where I currently live, College Station, but found nada. Not even vacuum seal bags! But what I did find, and have enjoyed immensely, is the FoodSaver handheld vacuum sealer. You can get a whole kit online (and maybe in stores) that comes with the handheld, a recharging base, quart bags, and gallon bags for all of $30. I use it just about every day...

I had an expensive one called Oliso from Sharper Image that never worked right, and then SI went out of business.

Right now I use the Ziplock sealer. I am having excellent luck with it. Some people say they can't get a seal that lasts. I seal the bags VERY carefully, and haven't had a problem. If a bag loses its seal several times in a row, I replace it. I've only had to do that once, though. Most of them are holding indefinitely.

The home shoping network sells one . My mom bought it and it works great on human food. It came with bags too.

I use the stay fresh brand sealer. Word of caution, freeze the mice first, then suck the air out. If you don't it sucks all the gut and goo out of the mice.

:puke02: Gasp and eww.

I use the ziploc one. Sometimes I have a bag that won't seal well so like Nanci said, I replace it.

I use the ziplock, too. Works great, but yes, I have gotten the occasional bag that won't hold a seal. I like that you can get different size bags easily.

I use the Ziploc ones too. I have noticed that they will last sometimes up to 3 reseals and some bags might go as many a 10-12 before having to replace.

I use a foodsaver, it was kind of expensive. I think I paid about 160.00 for it, but it does get used a lot. I haven't had any issues thus far.

LOL...great thread! Ah, the humor. Only thing funnier is forgetting that I left a bunch of frozen pinkies in the front of the "house" freezer (it was feeding day) when my mother-in-law came over with frozen pizza for us (and hence, just HAD to put away for me!) She HATES anything to do with rodents or reptiles! ROFL...ah, THAT was a good day!
On a more appropriate note: I use a cheaper Foodsaver....think I only paid about $80, but that was years ago. Works very well, but I no longer need to use it for rodents, as we've got plenty of mouths to feed nowadays! Even frozen food doesn't sit around for very long.

Hope that helps...oh, and I would think CHICKEN! LOL
