Artephius (caramel blood) shows off his scales

Caryl

BrightHope
I finally got to do a photo shoot with my beautiful boy, Artephius. For those who don't know, I was fortunate enough to purchase him from Rich Z. last fall. He (Artephius, that is :poke:) is pretty much my snakey dream come true. He's got nice diffusion. He's great to handle and does a decent imitation of an Egyptian head-dress. And he's all golden and silvery and bronze-y and pewter-y and metallic-y. That's exactly what I'm hoping to reproduce consistently in the future. Thanks for looking. Enjoy the eye candy!

Thank you! I'm quite enamored of him and can't wait for his babies to arrive! Of course, my female caramel blood won't be ready until next year - but coming from Serpenco, who knows what hets he and his current mate may have.

(By the way, I love your signature line. That's one of my favorite works.)

Thank you for the kind words, everyone. I'm like a proud parent who simply has to show everyone pictures... so here are two more! :sidestep:

The one with the flower is a picture from his viv. I promise to stop now. :p

Gorgeous, What a great combo morph.
Are you going to try making more?

Try making more? Oh, yeah!!

Before I began breeding corns and was considering projects, I decided to try developing a line of caramel-based morphs that had that metallic sheen you sometimes see. My ideal animal was essentially bronze/gold and pewter/silver. Artephius is pretty much it!

I'm growing up some young ones that I'm really looking forward to breeding with him next year. One is another Serpenco caramel blood (Pixie), the other is a caramel p/h blood (Charm - from Susan Willis) who's already pretty diffused and metallic looking. I have a small crop of '09s as well.

So far this year I've only bred him to one female (Avalon). She's a butter striped-motley who also came from Serpenco. I've no idea on hets for either of this pair; this breeding will tell me a few things about hets. Even if the only trait they share is caramel, the F2s should prove interesting.

He is the best caramel blood I have ever seen! I had never been interested in the way they looked with bloodred in the mix, but if they were all like him I would already have one! Definitely looking forward to more like him :)

He's perfect! Gorgeous colors! I love the silvery-brown on him. Ugh, lovely! A Caramelblood is on my definite Must Have Someday list. Thanks for posting!

You have, in my opinion, the most impressive looking corn of any morph I have seen. Ever since I saw your avatar, I have been in envy. Excuse me while I wipe the drool off my keyboard. The wish list is getting bigger by the day. Woe is me............

Caryl, I had figured it must surely be the one in your avatar. Very beautiful and unique looking snake. At a glance, in you avatar almost doesn't even look like a corn snake.
(In a good, unique, fascinating way.) :D

*Sighs wistfully* I may have mentioned before how much I love Artephius....only once or thrice though...

That is a gorgeous, handsome animal. You are so fortunate to have a gorgeous creature like that. I also like the "metallic" look, it makes them look so luminous.

Aww thats the snake in your AV huh..??? DYK I have been admiring him forever, everytime I see a post of yours, I am like what is that beautiful thing???? HE is amazing :)
