Help me decide, Verizon vs AT&T

zeewhiz

Call me Matt...
Hey ya'll, hope you dont mind helping me out deciding this:

Its time to re-up my cell phone service, and I can get the same price for the plan I want through both providers... the phone I picked with AT&T is slightly better than the one I picked with Verizon. Im not talking about smart phones here, I have no need for it. All I need or want is a standard phone with a qwerty keyboard. Anyhow, I've been with verizon since high school, but have been thinking about changing to AT&T for a few years now, just for a change of pace... no complaints with Verizon. SO what would you guys do... stick with what works, or go try AT&T out?

Thanks in advance!:grabbit:

I'd stay Verizon. I've heard lots of bad things about dropped calls and poor service coverage with AT&T. I've never dropped a call with Verizon.

I used to work for AT&T...stick with Verizon. I've had it for 6 years and never had any major issues.

I have been with AT&T since...

BEFORE it became Cingular, and then stayed with them when they turned back into AT&T. So it has been many years, and several phones. My sister and her family have Verizon. Both of us have been happy with our carriers. I have been tempted to try out Verizon whenever my contract is up, simply because I always read, and hear, such good things about them. BUT - I have never had the problems that I hear about with AT&T, like the dropped calls, etc. So it always came down to - why fix what isn't broken? The one thing that I really like about AT&T is the rollover minutes. We virtually never use all of our minutes, except when we go on extended trips. Then it is nice to have all of those leftover minutes from previous months, instead of paying extra.

I guess you just have to compare the plans that cover your intended use, as well as the phones and their cost, and see which has the better deal for what you need. You can always change again in 2 years, lol!

I have at one time or another tried a dozen different companies. I have been with Verizon for about 5 years and love it. I would not change.

I was with Verizon for a year or two. In my area we had constant dropped calls. Switched to AT&T and have had no problems.

i'm from Canada, so we don't have Verizon or AT&T up here, but my personal opinion is that if Verizon has been working for you, i would stick with it. ESPECIALLY if you're going to be on a contract.

there are ALWAYS going to be horror stories about every single service provider. they're all the same, they want your money, and they'll gouge you for it. the price of cell service is RIDICULOUS, and believe it or not even MORE ridiculous in Canada.

so i think it would be wise to just stick with what you know already works.

I have At&t...I hate it. We are in Baltimore city...it's a MAJOR city. They drop calls all the time. We sometimes have 4 bars in the living room....sometimes NONE! OY. Verizon all the way. And it covers more areas...particularly outside of major cities.

I have been with AT&T for a long time. When they sold to Cingular, I was one of the customers who was sold to SunCom...which was eventually sold to T-Mobile.

I left Suncom, and went back to AT&T wireless...where I belonged...and since then, I have accumulated quite a number of roll over minutes.

My monthly plan is only 400 Anytime minutes (I think that's right), and even then, I am able to bank almost half of those as roll-over. I don't ever plan on needing my rollover minutes, but it's good to know they are there.

If you are with Verizon, and don't have complaints, then stay put.

I've been a customer of ATT, Cingular, and whatever it was before that. 12 years at least. No problems at all- always excellent customer service. Plus the coolest phones!

If you have no complaints then stay with Verizon!! I wish I had, but I needed a smartphone for my old job and the iPhone plan I needed was cheaper than the Blackberry plan on Verizon would have been, so I switched. I LOVE my iPhone but it's not as fun when I can barely use it most of the time. I've actually been considering taking it to Tmobile because then at least if I have crappy service I won't be paying a fortune for it. I don't even care that the 3G isn't compatible because as it is now I have to keep the 3G turned off anyway to get anything other than "no service."

AT&T is seriously awful. My boyfriend and I have something like 6000 rollover minutes because we can't make calls from our house (which is in a decent sized city with a pretty big college, mind you) and end up just using the landline. My text messages don't go through half the time, and their customer service sucks. We have to call them every other month practically because they're constantly trying to sneak extra charges onto our bill, and they're almost always jerks about it. I was so much happier with Verizon.

i got sprint and i am fine with it. but when my contract is up i might switch test out another company

Thanks everybody for the help.... I believe Im gonna go with the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" way of thinking and just stick with Verizon.

Being in G'ville too, and I have had just about every service provider they have around here, I would suggest looking into plans at Sprint. They actually have a few cheap plans, and I have coverage up towards Ceaser's Head and all over in the mountains, where others didn't. Just a thought.

Hubby and I have been asking ourselves the same thing. Lol I have been with At&t for.. I dunno.. 10 yrs. LMAO *with all the switch in Company names.* I have been with them since they were Originally At&t.. then Cingular.. now At&T again! lol And I don't have issues with them. But, my hubby has a blackberry..and needs the internet on his phone for work. And he has had nothing but issues with slow internet..and stuff on the blackberry. I have the Pantech Matrix.. they don't make it anymore. And it has the keyboard. I love the phone over all. And i don't get a lot of Dropped calls. Maybe a handful of them in the last 1.5 yrs. But, I do know that at my mom's house.. Which is like 30min from here... I had a hard time with reception. Sooooo I guess it depends on ure area.. and if you are goo with Verizon.. Stay with it! If it isn't broke.. don't fix it ;)

I have much more trouble with me accidentally hanging up the iPhone than I ever have had with dropped calls. Luckily, I don't get very many actual calls!!

In my service area, Version has a much wider coverage area. I have not experienced any major problems. Of course they do tend to nickel and dime you to death for any added features. I think they all do though.

Hubby and I share 700 min a month..and unless I have been on the phone alot because of the rescue.. We don't usually go through em. But I can blow through 3000+ Text msgs a month lmao
