High End Herps = Busted

Sick people. Want to see how these people were really keeping the animals? Check this out..http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/showthread.php?t=40006 That should have been reported back when it was posted so some thing could have been done then.

I was one of the most disgusting pictures of abuse of a snake I have ever seen.

I can't believe the mods thought it was okay. As fellow reptile keepers I think we need to all take responsibility and say that something should have been done a long time ago. You wouldn't turn your head to a a photo bragging about dog abuse, the same should be applied to snakes.

Problem is alot of people cant tell when a snake is being abused - dog you can tell - it looks like a skeleton and shies when anyone tries to touch it - snakes not so much..

A person who didnt know snakes would look at it and think - its fat & round and looks well fed - its not bitey or in any sort of defense posture - ergo it must be fine..

A person who knows snakes will think - its listless, its not remotely interested in the retard who's waving the arm about 3 feet from its mouth (even I know that for most snakes doing that means either defensive mode or 'ooh look, food *chomp*) - I have never seen an animal that looked so utterly tired of life :(

The moderator who defended that should be de-mobbed immediately - as of now - and whatever happens with the charges and court case - those people involved should be banned from holding animals and watched to make sure they dont ignore the ban and do it anyway...

We have the same problem with the motorized bikes in the US - 95% of people who self build their machines are not gonna risk all their hard earned money and work and ride like idiots - but you get that tiny few that think that MB jousting or riding what is effectively a 45mph motorized pushbike down the middle of the freeway is a great idea - and generally get removed from the gene pool as a result... which give the rest of them problems.

*sigh* maybe we should start a breeding programme for the human race ... anyone who professes the dream to be a politician could be euthanised for a start ...

The guy is a convicted felon, manslaughter or murder, I forget which. He's a tool. Go do a search for him on fauna. This is old news, his keeping anyway.

It's about time he got busted.

Isn't it amazing how one person in a community can give the rest such a bad name? To tell the truth, I love snakes. Always have. But I certainly didn't want to ever find myself labeled and thought of as being someone like this guy, 'cause you know, EVERY snake keeper will take his free food wherever he can find it, right? *grins* So that was one reason I never had a pet snake, before. The other is that I didn't want to feed live animals....

It wasn't until I found out that you can feed pre-killed food to snakes (previous to that, people would always laugh at me if I asked if they would be ok with canned dog food or something besides a live animal to a snake--what can I say? I'm squeamish), AND Jadie.Glitch put her beautiful snakes up for sale that I decided to throw my lot in with you guys and become "one of THOSE" people :).

Of course, my mother thinks we're all going to die of bird flu over here because of my macaws, so I'm sure that when she finds out I have a snake, she's going to come to some negative conclusion, too. Why? Because guys like this idiot are the only ones the average person hears about when it comes to snake keeping. It's too bad, because it's hard to break through the fear-mongering, and many people never manage to.

IRONY ALERT! A wee bit hypocritical . . . :headbang::headbang::headbang:

Of course you do know snakes, when co-habbed they cuddle up together, right?

Yes J9, and if you had an inherent empathy towards animals you would already know this very important fact!!!!!!
I have to conserve my psychic forces for the good of mankind! (I can't tell you what I do, because then I'd have to kill you)

Did Hitler attempt a human-breeding program? :shrugs:

Just sayin'....

Ah my favourite pita - two different things entirely - so retract the claws.

If this is about what I think it is then, no its not really two different things entirely. This person was putting unnecessary stress on his animals by overfeeding them.
The same thing can be said about people who cohab their snakes.

Now if you were talking about this guy taking other peoples animals, just to feed his snakes, then I see the difference.

:-offtopic <-- (why does this little dude look so angry? Lol, I want to declare my own off-topic comment that's coming.. but it seems like I'm mad, haha.) Anyways:

Please don't be offended by this because my comments are just as much for my own benefit as they are for others. I'm in no way guiltless when it comes to saying harsh things.

That being said:

The fact that JemmaUK is here at all shows that she still wants to learn and learning is a good thing. She may have made mistakes in the past and could even still be making them (are any of us perfect :shrugs:) but at least she's still here trying, and after all the abuse she took, that's commendable.

I'm not saying what she said and has done is right, but aside from that specific thread, maybe we should keep jabbing comments down? Be as open as you want in her thread, but bringing it up in other people's threads is rude and also hi-jacks.

Sorry Jadie, but...
While your post is sensible and nice and fair....I just can't abide by it.
I HATE HATE HATE co habbers. I personally rank co habbers and live feeders (when the animal will eat f/k or f/t) right up there with pedophiles and child abusers. I know some may be offended by this, but it's how I see this issue.

I don't consider myself an animal rights nut, but when you have an animal it is up to you to do what's right for the animal, no matter what.

And this particular person in another thread said she had yet ANOTHER problem (after a whole thread about a regurge), and AGAIN people stated that it was likely due to co habbing, and she dismissed it and said that she has already heard "all the co habbing bitchiness"......

She went on the say that she tried to seperate them, but it "broke her heart" and made her feel cruel when they freaked out (as some snakes will do when put in a container with a different smell), and that they "looked for each other"....

Paleeze....

Maybe she IS still here, but apparently she is not learning anything.

:eek1:

Cracka' what? I guess I hadn't seen that this went any further than the first thread, and last I heard was she was planning on splitting them up soon. To think that the snakes were freaked out because they missed each other, and not because everything was "scary and new" is freaky... and to also think that a SNAKE would be looking for her little cell mate is down-right insane. :nope:

Carry on :D (try not to derail other people's threads, but by all means, speak your peace because that's just madness)

THIS ISN'T MADNESS!!

Okay, I'm done now.

Cohabbing if you know what you're doing is no problem at all.

I've had multiple generations of several species that have never lived a day of their lives solo.

The live feeding debate is another topic entirely but if you have to, you have to.

What gives anyone the right to tell anyone else they're less than good for not abiding by an arbitrary idea?

Ever done any field herping? Ever find more than one snake or more than one species under the same cover? I have. I know others that have. Just that little fact all by itself blows this "they must be kept alone or they'll die" crap right out of any sort of intelligent conversation.

An opinion is fine. But condemnation for not doing it your way is out of line, no matter who you are.
