I can't prove that there's a pink unicorn sitting next to me. Like a deity, he can't be sensed or measured with scientific instruments. There's no proof he exists.
OK, fair enough. I think we may be talking past each other a lot, or we may define faith & belief a little differently. I sort of have to take astrophysics on faith, I can't understand the calculations or the measurements. I know the scientific method works, that's not a faith issue, because there are areas of science I understand well enough to see the evidence.
Either way, that's OK, I think. I am content to believe without evidence of the sort you mention. I am also content to let those who don't believe be who they are. I am so NOT a recruiter for religious faith!
