they will do what they can to cover up all his/her transgressions until after he/she has signed the contract and swore the oath.
But after they sign, then is it a different story? I have a lot of friends/family who either are serving or have during my lifetime, and I have never encountered this before. I do not know the details of all of their enlistments. But I do know that during their time actually enlisted they all seem to be very careful to not get into any kind of trouble, because they do not want to face any repercussions from their commanding officers. It seemed to me (from my impression of their lives and such) that once you are enlisted it is even more important to stay out of trouble, because you may end up in trouble also with the military. I did know that some recruiters would occasionally help out to help enlistment. But I did not realize that it was rampant.
