New Snake Owner From Louisiana

Hopefully above is a picture of my little guy.

Hi! I'm a first time snake owner and have already found this site to be very helpful to me. But all these pictures are tempting me to get another one already! Which brings me to my question, if I do purchase another snake, Ticky (my snake) is male, should I purchase a female. They will have thier own separate cages but will the scent of a female make my male snake act differently? And also I am going to a reptile expo on July 3rd. Is this a good place to purchase a snake?

Hi there and welcome to the forum. The pic of your snake didn't show up, next time you post a thread or post a reply, there is a "Preview Post" button that you can click to see if your pic will show up. Also corn snakes are addicting! A Reptile Expo is a great place to purchase new additions. Just make sure the breeder/seller knows their stuff and took excellent care of their snakes before you purchase one. Also having a male and a female wont agitate them at all. Some males during breeding season are more active moving around their tanks but it's not a big deal.

He's very pretty! I bet he'd love some nice fluffy aspen to burrow in, instead of whatever that bark stuff is...

You can keep males and females, (separately, of course) they won't really care. Males still do their springtime mating behaviors when there aren't any females present.

I know I was going to switch it to aspen when I clean the cage. That bark stuff is what came with the reptile aquarium (it was one of those kits for corn snakes), believe it or not though he burrows in that stuff too.

See, I'm BARELY an addict. I have only 15 corns (including 3 keepers from this years hatchlings), 2 ball pythons and a kingsnake. I do plan to get 2 more ball-pythons this year though.
