Took some herp room photos today (DUW)

Here are a few.

These are the racks we have for yearling through adult colubrids. The taller racks are 66 quart racks. I am not too fond of them. The smaller ones are 32 quart. Eventually I'd like to have all of our adults housed in cages, with racks used only for hatchlings and juvies.

On top of the smaller set of racks is our Amazon Tree boa viv.

Now our miscellaneous rack. It's an old wire shelving unit from back when we had aquariums with screen lids (thank God those days are gone!). Housed on it are our baby colubrids and leos along with Kaa, the Kenyan Sand boa, and Chloe, the bearded dragon who usually lives at school but is home for the summer (she has a bigger viv at school).

Transitioning from front to back room...

To the right we have a 30 gallon viv with Avery the bluetongued skink. Beneath that is our 20 gallon leopard gecko viv.

Progressing to the back of the basement, we have a standard metal and pressboard utility shelf that holds our animals that do not require heating. We've got a bunch of cresties and a gargoyle, along with some pet rodents and Tara's small collection of tarantulas (top row, in critter keepers). The top most shelf stores rodent food and assorted supplies.

Our stack of Animal Plastics cages. Three are 4'x2' and house Carlos the boa, Dingo the Woma and Leonard the Hog Isle Boa. Two are divided into 2'x2's and house ball pythons.

I've got a few more miscellaneous shots. I'll put those in a second posting.

Whoops... didn't realize Tara was signed in. Oh well.

Here's a few more shots we took. We have a few tables that have a variety of vivs on them. Those are going to be condensed soon to make room for a few more AP cages-- at least one for Shesmu the burm and more than likely, one for our new Dumeril's boa. Those cages will begin to be stacked on the big black lab table with the 50 gallon aquarium housing our ever-growing axolotl underneath!

We also have one 20L aquarium stand with two aquariums. One houses our two water turtles-- an Eastern painted turtle and a tiny three striped mud turtle. The other houses our baby Sulcata.

I love your escaped snake in the first picture. I assume you knew that one was not in a viv?

Why yes! Yes we did. That is Pelvis, our fatty corn. We bought her from a guy on Craigslist who was feeding her medium rats, sometimes multiple times a week. She's just not starting to slim down and we like her to get some out-of-cage exercise every few days.

Thanks for the compliment Abraham. There's usually quite a bit more crap thrown about the place to be honest... but we cleaned the whole house yesterday in preparation for being away for Daytona, so it looked nice and neat. I thought it a good time for photos!!

Also forgot to add this pic: Quill, our albino axolotl.

I need to find a shelving unit for my three 20 gal longs... would free up so much more space for more critters...

Wow! You have quite the assortment of animals. I am impressed. I really want to get an axolotl for the classroom. I think the kids would get a kick out of it.

She is actually a pretty easy keeper, just will eventually be large enough to warrant the giant 50 gallon tank. Now she looks so small it's ridiculous. We actually started her in a 10, but I moved a bunch of fish out of the 50 and now it's available-- she may as well grow into the space.

Thanks for the compliments on the tort. She is one of our must frustrating animals. She is just not growing. It's been nearly a year without any significant growth. She's not loosing weight-- she's just not gaining. We may end up taking her to the vets to see about a fecal just to be sure. All the people on tort forums are insisting that they grow at their own pace and to just keep feeding her and making sure her temp requirements are met. :shrugs:

I don't know a whole lot about their care, thus the "I think I might want one". LOL I guess it's at least good she's not losing, but is it very abnormal not to grow at all in a year? I would imagine you'd expect a baby to grow at least a little. When you say she hasn't grown, is it weight or size you are going by?

Weight, mostly. She vacillates in the 50's. Usually in the middle, never below 50 and never made it above 58. I called and made an appointment for her at an exotics vet on Wednesday, and we'll see what they say. They want a fecal but that may not be possible unless she chooses to go between now and then.
