2010 CS.com NFL Football Pick 'Em

You know... I really, REALLY don't like McNabb as a player... but as a person, he seems to be a really great guy. I thought it was VERY classy of him to take a knee by Ware and support him when Ware got injured - thankfully not too badly. From what I saw, he was the only one there ('Skins or 'Pokes) supporting Ware. Class act, right there.

As for the 'boys... You're right... DEFENSIVELY they did a GREAT job. Offensively... they reeked...

Cowboys defense stepped up I thought. Eagles kicked a field goal, it was reversed on a penalty against Dallas and they got 1st and goal and the the 'Boys D was able to hold them to 0 points?! That's great that they were able to mentally bounce back from that penalty.

However, offense was terrible. No idea what the coaching staff was thinking at the end of the half. I lay the blame at the coaches feet for this game. The offensive game plan and calling was terrible. They should have also had Barber double team Orakapo with Barron on that last play (or for the entire last drive for that matter!). Barron was getting beat all night, give him help for pete's sake!

I wish they could find a way to keep Wade as defensive coordinator (I think our D will be Super Bowl caliber), but get new head coach (woo Dungy out of retirement?) and new offensive coordinator.

Oh well. It's hard for me to be too upset, I really like McNabb and if there's a player in this league deserving of a SB ring, its him IMO. As much as I want the 'Boys to win it all, it wouldn't upset me if McNabb was able to either.
Couldn't agree more!!! Great point on the Barber play as well. I was thinking the same thing myself while watching that play. Barber was obviously just a decoy, because there's not a snowflakes chance in heck that he's taking a screen to the house on the last play, so why not stand in there for some extra protection against one of the leagues up and coming best pass rushers?

Agree with you on Wade, too. He's absolutely a great D coordinator, but I'm not sure that he'll have much of a chance to coach a team to the Super Bowl as the head coach.

Also agree about McNabb. I've always had a tremendous respect for him as a person. He handles all of his business like a true professional, and I'm glad to see that he has a fresh start to make a SB run.

BTW, who else thinks that the Eagles would be freakin' crazy not to put Vick in as the starter. They very well might have won that game last night had he started since the beginning of the game. I'm not at all a fan of his actions off the field, don't get me wrong, but he's a much better QB than Kolb.

Personally, I feel, and have always felt, that Kolb is just not very good. He plays with almost no leadership or awareness of the game.

Def a few surprised this week tho. Even tho I picked them, I never really expected the Bucs to win, just felt wrong to go against my team lol. Really thought SF would do better...how did Gore only rush for 36 yards?! Ugh, and he's on my fantasy team! Hear's something really screwy...the buc's Cadillac Williams scored me 11 points...on my bench. Marion Barber and Frank Gore, who I started, combined score me: 11 points. Did I enter the twilight zone or something?

:57 to being tied for first . . . barring a huge upset by the Chiefs, should end the night tied for first . . .

D80

PS. Following the weekend's worth of calamities, that Viking effort Thursday night doesn't look so bad . . . does it?!?! ;)

I guess being a homer does pay off from time to time. :p It was a great game, too. I was extremely nervous at the end. 4th and goal, and they didn't convert?

:dancer:

Crazy opening week of football. Looks like the pickem' this week was a doozy for just about everyone else too. I mean, the Chiefs upsetting the Chargers? Whoda' thunk...

All in all it was a great first week of football. I couldn't be happier to see the Ravens win :)!

Looks like I lost this week in the fantasy league by 2pts as well... drats! I can't believe that some of my players were so unproductive, like Andre Johnson for example.

Ouch!! Rough start for me this week!! (Though who would have called chiefs over chargers?!??)

I disagree here. I think you give Kolb another chance. It was just the 1st game and he got knocked out early. How many good or even great qbs do you see every now and then start out rough but make it happen when it counts?

But I think you make it clear his job security as the starter is up in the air - but give him another fair chance. That being said, if he isn't up to it, then start Vick. As much as I dislike the guy for his dog-fighting, he's one heck of an athletic QB. I thought he looked much closer to his previous form on Sunday than he did last year (A QB in the NFL rushing for over 100yds!!?).

QBs like him and Vince Young I think could find a niche in the right offense where they could be downright dominating with their athleticism.

True, there have been numerous QB's that have just had late blooms, but I see huge flaws in Kolb's game that seem to point at him being benched pretty soon.

I haven't liked him ever since I first saw him play against the Ravens (when they benched McNabb). Kolb knew quite well that McNabb was eventually going to be out the door, and he should have been hungry for that opportunity to come so he could prove himself. Just like how Vick was this past Sunday, where he almost made a tremendous comeback against one of the few Super Bowl caliber teams. I wasn't about to judge his future off of that one Ravens game, but it was a big red flag. Then watching his interviews following him being named "the guy", it really made me realize how poor he was going to do in the NFL. He has absolutely no tenacity, no leadership, and not enough skills to compensate. You can just see it in the rest of the team how poorly his energy shows, and how much better the rest of the team played with Vick in. I feel like even McNabb knew that it was soon to be Vick's team. I can all but guarantee that McNabb was looking over his shoulder every game trying to compete with Vick, not Kolb, for the role as the QB on that team. And when the Eagles face off against the Redskins in a couple of weeks, McNabb is really going to be hoping that it's a Kolb led squad.

Also, Vick is really the only one other than McNabb who can really let those WR's shine. Desean Jackson is a phenomenal athlete, but he's as weak as it comes going over the middle. He needs a QB who can buy him time to get open, otherwise he just gets exposed for his less than stellar receiver skills, and his lack of strength to make the plays when it really counts.

For Kolb's sake, I feel like he needs to do everything he can this week to make sure he can play. He might be able to prolong his starting role for another two weeks by facing off against a weak Lions secondary, but if Vick somehow starts next week... it's over! They won't look back. That's just how I feel about it.

LOL, Michael!

I do agree with you, though... I just don't see ANYTHING in Kolb's game...

I WAS impressed by Sam Bradford's play against the Cards... His stats don't show it, but he made some very NICE passes against the Cards. I just think that the Cards "stole" the game with a little luck. LOL.

Yup! I was VERY impressed with Sam Bradford. He really showed a lot of poise, and he seemed to have that "it" factor that I just don't see in Kolb. He rallied his team together, made some nice throws, and almost came away with a win against the defending division champs. He also made Mark Clayton look like a good receiver, which I can say by watching him in BAL, it's not an easy thing to do.

It also showed how much trust that they have in Bradford when they allowed him to throw the ball on that 4th and 1. They have a premier RB who seemed like an obvious candidate to just run clean up the middle on that play, and they decided to pass it. Really liked to see that.

If things go as planned I should be at the Vikings/Giants game on Dec 12 :dancer:

Don't forget to get your picks in for Sunday.
