Hi all.

Found my adult female shed over night, bit quick as she only "cleared" yesterday.

Is this a pre-breed shed and should i try my male with her, neither have been brumated this year.

It's a pre-breed shed if you say it is - she doesn't know she's about to be "sauced up"!

I'd give it a whirl and see what happens.

I would pick a day of the week and try once a week until they mate, and then put them together every three days. _My_ experience has been that if they are going to mate, they hook up fairly quickly. I would wait about an hour. But you can see right away if the male is interested- he'll immediately start following the female and rubbing his chin along her back, hopefully from tail to head, but sometimes they get confused. The female will either run away, whipping her tail, trying to climb out, or ignore him, or start twitching and jerking (good sign!). If she's responding positively to him, I'd give them an hour or two to see if she will consent. But if she doesn't, then just try again a week later.

Hang onto the female's shed in a sealed plastic bag if you don't try mating immediately (or have to try more than once). Put it in with the pair when you try mating - any extra residual pheramones might be useful for setting the mood.

I'm sorry guys, but that saving the shed thing for its smell just reminds me of when I was in the horse breeding biz and when we didn't have a mare in the mood to tease the stallion with, we just used a washrag soaked in the urine of a cycling mare and it worked just as well. There's a whole new world out there when it comes to animals and the smells they give off!

BTW a young friend of mine is cooling her snow stripe to prepare her for my Draco and I told her to save the first shed when she starts warming her up.

Excellent tip!

Not to hijack things, but if you want to seriously squirm, read about pheremones in humans! I teach high school chemistry (among other things) and whenever I've had an upper-level chem class over Valentine's Day, I do a unit about "Is is Love or Chemistry?" They're pretty thoroughly freaked out by the time it's done!:laugh::laugh:

Well i put her shed skin in his viv (just to testthe water) and he was tearing round his viv looking for her so i put them bioth in the mating rub, imediately he was twitching and jerking and rubbing, she on the other hand took it in her stride, didnt try to escape but just ignored his advances.....

will leave it a week then try again.....

Good luck, the females can be stuborn. My girl shed on 1-26 and that night I put her and her fresh shed in his bin and at first she was just laying there, then he started putting the moves on. She was a tease, she was fleeing with her tail up! After about 15 minuts he caught her and they got to business lol. Now she is feeding up and hopefully working on a fertile clutch for me. I don't brumate, don't really have anywhere to do it right or safely enough. They seem fine without it. Anyway, good luck! Oh and what morphs are they?

she is amel, dont know if there is any hets and he is ghost, again, dont know if there are any hets.....
